Primal Instinct Tattoo

I’ve still been trying to come up with the words to describe our experience with Carlos and Danielle after spending a day with them last week.

My Dad passed away earlier this year as a result of a freak accident, a mere three weeks after my Grandfather. My family and I decided Alaska was the place we would spread his ashes as he always joked about going there and getting eaten by bears if he were to ever get a terminal diagnosis. . Ya know, the circle of life.

With our travels, we knew we wanted to memorialize this moment with tattoos. After some research, my younger brother was set on having them done at Primal Instinct. I sent a message to their Facebook explaining why we were in Alaska and what we were thinking of getting. Without hesitation they agreed to take on all 7 of us as Carlos had a cancellation in his schedule. . What were the odds?

The amount of healing that came from entering their shop is indescribable. Danielle, Carlos and their beautiful little girls greeted us with open arms. We spent the day talking about life, family, goals and everything in between. They allowed us to love on their babies and be our raw authentic selves without hesitation as they were with us. We left the shop with a sense of peace, beautiful artwork, and so much love for their family. . A family we plan on keeping in our lives for years to come.

Primal Instinct Tattoo is hands down one of thee BEST tattoo shops I've ever been to. They are clean, accommodating, friendly, personable and care deeply about their clients. My family and I were able to get memorial tattoos while visiting Alaska and I am SO very glad we chose Primal Instinct. Carlos and Danielle are GREAT, family oriented people that care about the permanent masterpiece they are about to tattoo on you. They are the real deal! You won't be disappointed in your decision! So this was supposed to be a tattoo cover up but as you can see the tattoo isn’t covered up. Not only is it not covered up but the person from the shop that did the tattoo offered a free touch up because they themselves admitted it needed it at the original appointment and they ended up not doing the touch up. They also recommended a sticker to keep it covered which I don’t think was necessary but we did what they recommended anyways and ended up regretting it. As you can see in the photo where the ink is supposed to be was peeling off which is just weird. Oh we didn’t end up getting the “free touch up” because the artist who did the tattoo decided to cancel on us an hour before the appointment as we were on the way with a Lyft all the way from eagle river. My fiancé and I did the research before picking an artist but I guess sometimes the pictures they post are only of the good parts of their work. Maybe I should have looked deeper but we didn’t and this is what we ended up with. Was about $400-500 and 100% not worth it at all. Look elsewhere for a tattoo. This ain’t it.

Will did an amazing job on my art piece! He was very considerate and wanted to get precisely what I wanted done right. He added his own special touch to the sample I gave him, after making sure that was okay with me. I am very happy with my new piece!

Best Tattoo shop in Alaska! True artists who are genuine professionals and deeply care about their customers. Wait can be months long due to high demand, but well worth it!

Lawrence did a wonderful job on the tattoo I requested. They kept a great communication line with me throughout the booking process, as well as being patient and considerate as I was trying to pick the perfect size to go with my placement. Clean, professional, and timely. I was very satisfied.

Carlos tattooed my son. His work was top quality. Shortly after I went to have something similar to my son’s work but with details to fit my story. Carlos worked for 3 hours drawing and creating more details to make my tattoo an amazing piece of art. Needless to say I love it! My husband will soon be getting some work done with him. I recommend him 💯. You pay for quality and I can assure you, you get what you pay for.

I had the best experience and left with the most beautiful tattoo! Laura Craver is such an amazing artist. The shop was so clean, well lit, and I really appreciate the safely precautions they are taking due to COVID. I'll definitely be going back for another Laura Craver masterpiece!! 🎨

I got my first tattoos there during the fall of 2009. Very friendly staff. Great customer service. I was in town for a short time and they were able to work around my schedule. All tattoos turned out great. Just what I wanted and very pleasant first tattoo experience. I will be going back for more, not much more needs to be said. John was my tattoo artist.

Update:
It is now 2012 and I have gotten 4 more tattoos from Primal Instinct Tattoos. Each time has been a very good customer experience and all tattoos have turned out great. I recommend Primal Instinct to everyone that asks for my recommendation.

I have since received numerous tattoos from Carlos, Danielle, Brie, and Will. All do great work and there is always great atmosphere. Highly recommended.
