Alla Prima Tattoo

I had an amazing experience at Alla Prima. I came in with a vague idea of what I wanted, and Grey came up with a beautiful piece for me. The place was clean, and it was relaxing to be there. Grey was awesome to work with. I usually feel anxious going to artists that I don’t know, but didn’t feel that way with him. This was one of the best experiences I’ve had. I highly suggest getting a tattoo here. The work is so clean and vivid. Pictures do not do justice to how amazing this Jackalope came out.

I am always skeptical about trying out a new artist when I move. But I will never go anywhere else in Fairbanks for artwork! My tattoo was something in my soul I wanted to see come to life. I’m not much of a color or shaded in tattoo person. I was nervous about how Grey’s line work would turn out. From the design all the way through the finished product was a great experience. The environment was very clean and relaxed. I absolutely love my piece and can’t wait to schedule my next one!

I can’t tell you how much I recommend this place. I love my tattoo, it was a coverup of two old tattoos and you can’t even tell they were there, the artist was fantastic and finished it all in one sitting, we took hourly breaks and he had movies playing for me while I was getting tattooed. Would definitely be back if I wasn’t moving out of state! If you’re looking for a great experience I definitely recommend stopping by!

I been in tattoo shops all over the world, Alla Prima is by far the best one. The atmosphere is relaxing, very clean, friendly and professional.

Grey let’s you know up front on the estimated cost and time. His eye for details is off the charts. His tattooing skills are 2nd to none. He far exceeded the vision I had for the piece I wanted done. We will be back and are telling all our friends about the best tattoo shop in Fairbanks Alaska!! Awesome work, can’t wait to be back on the table!!

Everything about this experience exceeded my expectations, I am so incredibly pleased! The tattoo I received yesterday was a piece I’d been waiting to find the right person to do for years now, and the artist not only did it perfectly, but really took it to another level with his attention to detail, skill, and patience.

The setting was clean and professional, and so many things about the experience felt like a tailored event set up just for me. Tattoos are so very personal and finding someone you can trust to place permanent artwork on you feels really rare. I’m so thankful to have connected to Alla Prima—I’ve already scheduled my next tattoo, I can’t wait to go back!

In September of 2020, I made an appointment for two sessions with Alla Prima Tattoo in Fairbanks. I visited the shop in person and made a $200 cash deposit towards my future tattoo, showed Grey my inspiration pictures and described what I was looking to get done, it all seemed pretty normal. He was booked out several months in advance so my first appointment was for January 2021.
As the appointment day started approaching I sent a few more inspiration pictures. At 8:30pm the night before my tattoo Grey sent me his rendering of what he planned to tattoo on me the next day at my 1pm appointment. There was no question that he came up with a beautiful design, it was just not what I had asked for and through initiating more questions I found that the hours he was planning to put into this tattoo was more than what I was expecting and more than I wanted for this specific piece. I then asked if it would be possible to simplify the design or wait until my next appointment the following month and I could submit a new concept. He was not willing to work with me to come up with a design I was comfortable with putting on my body and became aggressive and unprofessional. He was demeaning and rude even as I tried to work with him to come up with a solution. He didn’t care what I wanted the design to look like he just wanted to tattoo whatever he felt like doing.
I have previously been tattooed by 5 different artists in 3 different states and never once was I treated this way in any other shop.
If you can ignore his customer service and be willing to get whatever he comes up with tattooed on your body with little to no questions or any changes allowed then go for it, but I couldn’t.
I’m writing this review so that others will know what kind of experience they can expect with Alla Prima Tattoo.

I am a new client of Grey's and I absolutely love his work (I have followed him for awhile now). His shop is clean and welcoming. I had a consult with him and he drew up exactly what I was looking for. I have 3 more sessions scheduled and have started referring him to people looking for an artist in town. He may be booked out for months, but to me, that is the sign of a good artist and his skills are worth the weight.

My wife and I have been seeing Grey for a few years now. He’s done 2 matching tattoos for us and is now working on sleeves for each of us. The quality of his work is impeccable. I will not see anyone else in town. His new shop is bright and welcoming and a good atmosphere for long sessions. I cannot say enough good things about him and can’t wait for my next session.

I am very happy with my new tattoo. He did an amazing job incorporating a very old piece I had into something new and beautiful. The shop was clean and professional. I will return and recommend to others.

Fantastic experience! Got my first tattoo done by Grey and was very impressed. The coloring and depth he puts into shading is unreal. I highly recommend!
