Eagle: A Local Supermarket Chain in Nome, Alaska

Eagle is a well-known supermarket chain in Nome, Alaska, that has been serving the local community for many years. The store is conveniently located at 415 Bering St and operates seven days a week from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm. The primary category of the store is a grocery store, but it also offers a deli, bakery, and more.

The store carries a wide range of brand-name and house-label groceries, making it a one-stop-shop for all your daily needs. The produce section is well-stocked with fresh fruits and vegetables, and the quality is generally good. The store also has a decent selection of Alaska and Nome gifts, including t-shirts, mugs, socks, and more.

The staff at Eagle is friendly and helpful. They are always ready to assist customers and answer any questions they may have. The store is usually staffed by local workers who are knowledgeable about the products and services offered.

While some customers have complained about the store being understaffed and poorly stocked, most customers have had a positive experience shopping at Eagle. The prices are reasonable, considering that Nome stores carry inflated prices due to being off the road system. The store accepts points and coupons from the Carrs/Safeway brand, making it a good option for those who want to save money.

If you are looking for a local supermarket chain that offers a wide range of groceries, fresh produce, and friendly customer service, Eagle is a good option to consider.

Limited Fish Selection Expensive Prices

This shop belongs to Safeway, there are no local products at all. 4 stars for not having enough fish choice. In such place like Alaska I would expect more fish. We took last package of frozen pollock. And there was only frozen halibut left. There was choice of frozen shrimps. Big selection of meat. I understand that in such a remote place the food would be more expensive. For comparison.. 1gallon of 2% milk is 6.29$, 12 eggs not organic 5.49$, bananas 1.79$, avocado 3.49 $/each. In general there is a big choice, not huge of course, also household items and kids toys. The stuff is nice and helpful. We were happy that we could buy food here.

Awesome store, nice staff. Hardly any coca cola so if you drink coke then bring your own. πŸ˜‚

Quality Food Easy Access Friendly Staff Great Grocery

Quality food and supplies. Easy to get to. They even have hot take out in the afternoon and doughnuts in the morning. Staff is kind and thoughtful, if a bit short on numbers. These Nome prices aren't low, but that is Nome's fault not Hanson's fault. Great grocery overall.

Inflated Prices Decent Selection Understaffed

First, one should note that all Nome stores carry inflated prices, due to being off the road system. This store is under the Carrs, Safeway brand, so it should accept your points or coupons. Decent selection, a bit understaffed but I've never had an unpleasant experience shopping here.

Great Selection Unique Gifts

Hansons had everything I needed for my hotel room meals. They also have a large selection of Alaska and Nome gifts;
t-shirts, mugs and travel mugs, socks, gloves, sweatshirts,, books, kitchen towels, etc.
2022 - A friend of mine returned to Nome several years later. She told me that Hansons no longer carries the gifts and souvenir items that I bought. She didn’t find a good selection of those things in any Store in Nome. It’s too bad. I hope a Store will pick up the items I bought at Hansen’s.

Reasonable Prices Good Variety of Products

Prices were reasonable considering how much it must cost to have things shipped into Nome. A good variety of things to buy and most anything you'd need in terms of groceries.

Good Selection Club Card Benefits

Owned by Safeway so you can use your club card if you have one, prices vary (as they always do in rural Alaska) but there's a satisfactory selection.

Expensive

More pricey than other options in town, but owned by Carrs/Safeway, so you can get points if you shop here. Produce seems to be good quality.
