Located in the heart of downtown San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter district. Open daily from 12 noon. Last call @ 6pm Artists available for walkins as well as appts. All styles represented however, we excel at American traditional. Serving our guests & armed forces for over 73 years! Cash only but some artists do accept. ATM on premises. Sorry tattoos only. Priceless piece of history, Gil has done his predecessors honor in keeping the shipping running well as a talented and good hearted person. What an amazing collection of archival flash, articles of the history of the craft. Beautiful space, well lived in while clean. Always enjoy my time spent with the Gaslamp crew!

Brought my nephew in to get his 1st USMC tattoo after his graduation this week.
Of course I could not let a new brother run alone, so we ended up both getting new ink. Great group of guys. Definitely a 5 star place!

At first thought..my gf wanted to leave... a girl approached us and basically tried to talk me out of what I was interested in getting because its a hard tattoo to do.... while she was holding a huge wrench and explained there was no water.. obviously it didnt come off as very friendly.. she did connect us with someone that would do the tattoo.. my girlfriend ended up getting a tattoo also... i have extensive work done in white ink .. this one is 2 bands.. in royal blue.. good experience. One person..does not represent an entire business. Under the circumstances we could have walked out but glad we didnt.. thank you.

I knew what I wanted, or so I thought. Came in and met with Horatio from Argentina. Super nice guy, gave him an idea and he came up with another plan and on first draft we were good. Place has a Cool feel to it and not like going into a “tattoo shop”. Oh. Clean too!!

One of the oldest (if not the oldest) tattoo shop on the west coast. Highly respected in San Diego and elsewhere. A go to shop for all styles, including Japanese, American Traditional, and American Neo-Traditional.

I wish I could downgrade it more. Horrible customer service. Shop took my deposit, provided no work, no follow through and declined to accept responsibility because, " it's a tattoo shop". Shawn Henry was the artist. What a scam. Navy beware, no longer a reputable company.
