"Rising Tide Tattoo was founded in 2005 by Phill Bartell as a one-man shop on Pearl St. in downtown Boulder, Colorado. Five years later, Rising Tide Tattoo Emporium & Gallery was born from the idea that one space could bring together fine art and tattoo art; displaying quality work on both skin and canvas. In 2010, Rising Tide opened its doors to a warm reception from the community and our machines have hardly been quiet since. Our artists work closely with each client to ensure that their pieces are unique and aligned with their vision. Come on by to check out our light-filled, inspiring space, peruse portfolios and gallery art for sale, or to make an appointment for custom work. Walk in clients are also welcome."

Managed to walk in and get a tattoo completed on a Thursday while visiting Colorado. We were told that it can often be hard to get a tattoo while walking in without an appt. The whole crew acted professional from the time I walked in until four hours later when my wife's walk in tattoo was completed. I now have a nice keepsake to remind me of my trip and of Rising Tide. Thanks Tenzin and thanks Rising Tide.

I went in there today to get a very old tattoo touched up. It was missing ink in some spots and the colors were not what I originally wanted. Phill showed me his ideas with permanent marker before starting any work and I loved it! He was able to do my tattoo at my consultation which is not usual, but it was a small one and he had time before his next appointment. This was good because I was trying to get it done and healed before my wedding in July. (I scheduled my appointment in early May and this was the soonest they had--you know if they are that busy, they MUST be good. Also several friends recommended them.) I'm so happy with it, and he answered all my questions about care and healing process. The information they give you for the after care is very specific about what to do. I'll definitely be back! Very happy with my tattoo, but not so happy with the service. Artist was 20 minutes late getting started, and didn't really seem sorry about it. No conversation the whole 2 hours. When it was done, she just dropped me off at the desk for the receptionist to go over the aftercare. Not impressed. Love the art, not the artist.

I have several tattoos from Rising Tide. Darren did a great job with each and every one of them. I came in, told him the elements that I wanted and some general color schemes-and gave him some pictures of things I liked and didn't like. He worked from my incoherent "I kind of want this, but hate this" ideas to come up with tattoos that exceeded any expectation I might have had. I'll definitely be back!

I came here today with 2 friends for tattoos. The front desk staff was amazing. He worked incredibly hard to get us all in. He is kind, friendly, professional, respectful. So from the beginning the experience was amazing. We all 3 worked with Albert and he is an incredible artist. He took lots of time to make sure we had exactly what we wanted. He was very patient and gave lots of great input and advice on how to make it better. Our experience and final artwork was phenomenal. Can’t say enough great things about it! If you live anywhere near here, this is the place!!

I was having trouble putting in my septum ring, and I stopped in to see if anyone could help. The staff was very kind and the queen in a barbed wire tank top got it for me! I appreciate it immensely! I’ll probably be back for a tattoo 😂

Rising Tide is full of great artists whether you're looking for flash or something custom. They have a great variation in artists and I can guarantee you'll be able to find someone to do whatever style you're looking for in this shop. Phil and Mo are both totally rad.

I had a cover up done by Albert. He took my idea made some changes that made the tattoo better but still stayed true to the theme I was looking for. He did a great job, lines were good and clean and shading was on point as well. This is not my first tattoo and Albert is one of the better artists I’ve worked with. Highly recommended

Dana was warm and friendly greeting me at the door for my appointment, the space is clean and tidy and I could tell they are taking extra precautions seriously during covid times to keep the reception area sanitized. Albert was my artist, he was organized and clear about the design and took my concerns and suggestions in such a friendly way. My tattoo was even better than I imagined it and Albert was efficient and professional. Highly recommend and will definitely return when I’m ready for some more ink!
