"Tattoo reviews here only please. The Collective is a unique enterprise designed to enable people to “check out and chill out”. We have award-winning tattoo artists (Tattoo) @thecollectivekailua. Open 7 days 10:00am - till finish (portfolios linked on our website and instagram). The adjacent Café is transitioning during June 2023 and will soft open July 1st. Tattoo shop phone 808-230-8832. The gallery art is rotated giving artists a modest space to hang their works. We also have live music on Sundays next to our exterior mural. I've been wanting a tattoo for years and after finally doing serious research for a few months, I stumbled upon The Collective through a friend and visited them at the Hawaii Tattoo Expo this past August. I was immediately drawn to Lisa's work. I sent her my ideas and she very quickly understood my concept and turned it into a beautiful design - a monkey pod tree in the shape of Oahu. This was my very first tattoo, and on top of my foot of all places which I heard would be very painful. It wasn't nearly as bad as I expected. She's that good! And I'm beyond stoked with the final result!
Lisa is amazing and such a cool person, but you can't go wrong with any of the artists at The Collective. I've poked around their instagrams and they all do great work. Mahalos Lisa, I couldn't have asked for a better first tattoo and experience! I'll happily get more tattoos from you in the future. It was my first and definitely not my last ;)
Bonus: they have a really nice cafe as part of the tattoo shop. The smooties are so ono!
