Rend City Tattoo

Just the overall look and feel of this place is super cool. They not only do great work, but also give sound advice in regards to do's and don'ts of tattoos. Not to mention, this place is ridiculously clean and smells as sterile as a hospital. You just can't go wrong at Rend City tattoos!

I came in the shop on a Friday during inclement weather, when most all other businesses were closed and the guys had their place shoveled, salted the whole 9 yards. I had an appointment set up in advance with Austin. Shop was warm inside, and really really clean! I don't usually write reviews but this was well deserved

Rend city tattoo The Owner Brandon Absolutely 💯 Sabatoged my tattoo..How could this have happened. I traveled to Chicago went to various Tattoo shops,,I know the rules when it comes to getting ink work done,Money was no object I was willing to spend whatever it took to get a great tattoo,, And after long consideration for the type of work that I wanted to get done Rend city was in my backyard..This has been two years ago I did everything properly the etiquette Met with artist ✅ Had the deposit in hand At the consultation ✅ even asked Brandon are you into doing this tattoo ✅ Because if you’re not I do not want to Do it. It was a sleeve That I was working on. Not an unfinished sleeve but a sleeve that I was building on. And honestly his rude personality I just thought he was a cocky good tattoo artist and it was just his personality but that should’ve been my first warning ⚠️ I left a deposit I made a date we talked about what we were going to do I felt great about it ✅ The day of my tattoo It had landed on my back surgery appointment in Mount Vernon and I was going to be running about an hour late. I called him and said is this going to be OK he said No problem. Me & my wife had just had our first child he was 2 months old..It was right before Christmas it was very cold I was nervous A bit..My wife dropped me off at the Square,,,I checked in and was told he’ll be here in a few minutes. He walked in And his eyes were bloodshot He yawns And says who is on my schedule. And then looks at me and says hey your matt I said hey what’s up Brandon then he uttered the words that you never want to hear now what were you want to get done. My stomach sank then I was like did you draw something up on what we had discussed he said no. And then he acted like he had no idea of what we had Talked about I started to remind him and then he says the second most disturbing Thing,,,Do you have like a favorite band logo that you like I was mortified. The one thing I would never do would be get a band tattoo,He says hold up!He comes back and shows me this concept polka trash art,,He said I can make it look really cool and what he showed me did look nice so I said do you care if I smoke a cigarette while you draw it up. He said you can go smoke a cigarette But I don’t need to drawl it up. I went outside and I thought in my head should I try to fight to get my deposit back or should I roll the dice. I went on my phone and went over all of his work that he has ever done and I said it’s a damn good artist and&it’s not uncommon not to draw it out.. And I did like the concept. So I went for it. He got out of sharpie and laid me down started to fire up the needle about 20 minutes then a customer comes then he’s got a complete leg piece that is beautiful. He asked Brandon hey I need you to draw me up for my other leg I just got a big check settlement were at the bar drinking do you have time. He said absolutely and he gets up and he says he said you go ahead and take a rest bud,,The the rudest thing that you could do to a Pang customer that has left a deposit that has waited three weeks. So I said I’m gonna go smoke a cigarette. I come back in the shed are you finally ready he’s like you smoke a lot. I should have ran out of there.He works on my arm for another hour. And he said well that’s all there is I can do today I looked at my unfinished arm he said you let that heal and come back in a month and will get it done and he said the deposit that you left pretty much covers the work that I did today leave another deposit and I’ll see you after Christmas. So I then go out to Chicago for Christmas with a unfinished jacked up tattoo by Brandon. I got home my wife said you’re not happy are you and I had to suck it up and say no no it’s just unfinished hon it’s all right. Deep down inside I was not happy. I go back one month later my arm Still has had scabs.He told me to come back in 2 more weeks..So I did,To be continued

Just great quality work. Took me as a walk in. The artist was a true artist, it’s the only tattoo I have that I am actually really happy with. 2 years later

Called to get an idea of cost as compared to the other tattoo shops that's been around a lot longer with bigger reputations. Was quoted $120 an hour. Way higher than other tattoo artist with many more year of experience.

Awesome tattoo shop, super clean and great artists! Never disappointed, tattoos are always clean and perfect! This is the only shop I will go to in Southern Illinois!

Such a comfortable environment and the staff is freaking awesome! Love my tattoo, and will definitely be coming back here for future tats!
