Michigan resident who had to stay for an extended period in Chicago to support my wife who had experienced a TBI and was in a rehab hospital. Searched many Chicago tattoo artist websites, looking for the right artist with the right attitude to prepare a custom art piece for my forearm. I found that in Rob Goodkind. Rob stepped up to my challenge with a high degree of compassion and professionalism and gave me a tattoo that is both totally awesome and captured perfectly the emotion I was looking for. I could not be happier! There are many fine tattoo artists in Chicago. The problem is finding the one that can be responsive to the needs and desires of the client over their own desires to just create a tattoo. If you have a challenging, personal tattoo concept that is important to you, you will not be disappointed with Goodkind Tattoo. Highly Recommended! I got my tattoo done with Rob Goodkind, the owner. Though I was initially hesitant, being my first tattoo (a rather large piece over my ribs), Rob was awesome throughout the entire session and allowed breaks whenever I needed. The shop itself is extremely clean and the prices are great considering how detailed the artists' work is. Will definitely come back again for my next piece once my current tattoo is finished. Make sure to book your appointment a month or two in advance, as all of the artists there are extremely busy. All around great tattoo shop full of talent.

Carolina is a supreme bad ass, and helped me have the best tattoo experience in my life! The finished product blew all of my expectations out of the water, and I could not have pictured the tattoo coming out any better. Carolina was really helpful when helping me design my tattoo, and I could tell she took a lot of pride in her work. Plus, she was just outright awesome to work with and her enthusiasm made the experience that much more fun. What she does best is helping me realize my tattoo design and creating something that I really liked and wanted. I would recommend this shop, especially Carolina, to anyone, any day, or any week. Everyone at the shop was helpful and pretty easy going during my time there. I don't normally write reviews, but everyone needs to know how awesome Carolina and her work are! She seriously just blew my expectations!

These guys are very welcoming and so professional every time I'm here, I love coming here to get tattooed! Rob is the best artist I've had the pleasure of working with and always makes it an enjoyable and memorable experience. Can't wait to come back!

Rob is the fourth artist I've been to & hands down the best. I've admired his work for about 7 years and his style has developed in leaps and bounds since then while maintaining his immediately recognizable flair.

The shop just got a new window sign which it sorely needed. I drove & walked right past the shop on my first visit. It shouldn't be a problem for new clients now.

I appreciate the cleanliness of the shop & his technique for set up. He'll leave you with a print-out for first timers that walks you through the stages of tattoo healing. He offered proper soap & tattoo aftercare which outrageously I had not received from previous shops. He's super chill & answers questions in person & any time you need to phone in. He has his bases covered.

Rob was collaborative during the first color session and discussed with me what he & I had in mind & we came to an agreement. Even if you give him free creative reign, you will not be disappointed. He checked in throughout the session, takes breaks as needed, & always has an excellent playlist on.

My only complaint is the wait time between available appointments which ranges between 1-3 months. It's a testament to his quality of work & high demand, so call ahead & get in while you can. I also highly encourage tipping this dude. :)

I chose Rob to do my first tattoo after seeing his portfolio online. When I went for my consult, the shop was clean and he was very welcoming and willing to answer all of my questions. He took my tattoo idea, kept all the important parts, but then made it better than I had envisioned it. He always asked for my feedback at every step and made sure I approved of the design, colors, size, etc. He also verified my price range and gave me an accurate estimate.

He made the actual tattoo experience as comfortable as possible too. He was friendly and encouraged me to stay comfortable and relaxed and take breaks if I needed them. Most importantly, the end tattoo looks phenomenal, the lines, shading, and everything. It was an excellent choice for a first tattoo experience, and I couldn't recommend it more.

Rob is so talented. I started my sleeve with him. Such detail and professionalism. This guy is worth the drive, air travel, whatever you have to do to get there.
