"Funky Rooster Tattoo and Art Gallery is a fun and colorful custom tattoo shop and art gallery in downtown Elgin. We're just a bunch of friendly people who get excited about creating great art. Stop in to check out our art on the walls, all created by our shop artists, and talk to an artist about a tattoo idea you may have. Our tattooers work with a variety of styles of tattoos, from realism, to traditional, new school, illustrative, custom lettering, blackwork, geometric line work designs, etc, all in full color or black and grey. We are located on the East side of the river just minutes from the Metra train station and the Grand Victoria Casino. We opened in 2013 and have loved being a part of such a creative and artistic downtown."

This is the best Tattoo place hands down. They're friendly, they do great work, and it's a wonderful atmosphere. Great art work great artists.. love this place. I will only get my tattoos from them.

I love this shop! I can’t say enough good things about my experiences here getting tattooed. Manny is awesome, professional and really cares about what he’s putting on your skin. He’s given me exactly what I hoped for both times and I can’t wait to continue my sleeve with him in the near future. Sarah is a doll! She is always checking on the clients and makes sure everyone is always comfortable. Absolutely love her, and her artwork is beautiful. Just an amazing shop full of really talented artists. I researched for months for an artist that I thought could do justice to the idea I had for my sleeve and I’m very grateful I found Funky Rooster.

Couldn’t even get in, I asked for an appointment, got a response as to what I wanted and never heard back from them even after reaching out to them again. A simple no could have been fine.

Got my first tattoo of a watercolor tree on my forearm here from Paige Hudon and I absolutely love it. I scheduled a consultation with her and showed her some ideas as well as explained what I wanted. She has a fun and colorful style - you can definitely trust her with your ideas. Her design was absolutely perfect. She had a great eye for size and placement on my arm. Everyone at the shop made sure I was comfortable and had all my questions answered. The result is more amazing than I could've imagined! They also gave good aftercare instructions and made sure I knew I could call or stop in with any questions that come up. So glad I got my first tattoo here!!!

This is a great place! I called ahead and they scheduled me a time to meet with Amy Porter. At our first meet, we went over what ideas I had and what ideas she had. It was a great collaborative experience. After emailing each other a few times, we got a final tattoo drawn up. I had a more elaborate tattoo (a penguin in a golf cart next to a sign) and it took 3 sessions to finish up. We stopped early one day as it was draining for me (coloring is rough!). Amy was super understanding and encouraged to not push myself. She was also super easy to talk to since we are both big nerds.
The shop itself is super clean and open. Everyone that worked there is super nice and friendly. I am already planning that my next tattoo will be at this shop!

Love this place! I was very nervous about getting my first tattoo. But the staff here were great in walking me through it and making it a comfortable experience. A big thanks to Jose Manuel for doing a great job and helping me calm down when I was nervous. The blonde woman at the front counter (sorry I forgot your name!) was also very kind and helpful! Thank you for making my first tattoo experience an enjoyable one. This is a great place and I'll definitely be coming back! :)

This whole place is a vibe!! Even with covid it was super easy to set an appointment and get a tattoo done right away. I had Sam she did a GREAT job and made me feel super comfortable while I was in her chair. am SUPER happy will my new tatt😊❤ I will definitely recommend this place to everyone I know and DO NOT plan on going anywhere else for my tatts!!!!

I got my first tattoo here and I am glad I did! I got so many compliments on how nice and detailed and beautiful it looks, so I'm happy overall. Paige did a great job at explaining everything and making sure I was involved in the process. We also had nice conversations and got to know each other, so that made the process less painful and more enjoyable. I would recommend this parlor in a heartbeat and will for sure come again for my next piece.

Sarah did an amazing job. I wanted sunflowers on my foot and she created exactly what I wanted. She was very patient and gentle. It turned out amazing. Shop was very clean and all the artists seemed very nice. Will definitely get another one there.
