"Funky Rooster Tattoo and Art Gallery is a fun and colorful custom tattoo shop and art gallery in downtown Elgin. We're just a bunch of friendly people who get excited about creating great art. Stop in to check out our art on the walls, all created by our shop artists, and talk to an artist about a tattoo idea you may have. Our tattooers work with a variety of styles of tattoos, from realism, to traditional, new school, illustrative, custom lettering, blackwork, geometric line work designs, etc, all in full color or black and grey. We are located on the East side of the river just minutes from the Metra train station and the Grand Victoria Casino. We opened in 2013 and have loved being a part of such a creative and artistic downtown."

I hold Funky Rooster and their staff close to my heart. Even though they don't know me personally, I love the place. The atmosphere is so welcoming and not as intimidating as other places out there. Their prices are great and reasonable. I got my first tattoo with Josue, who is super chill and a super talented artist. All of the tattoo artists here are great at what they do and I always tell all my friends and family about it. I've brought my brother with me and he's gotten a couple of tattoos done here as well. We both love coming here and will continue to until we get our fill, and our friends and family get theirs.

I LOVE coming to Funky Rooster to get tattooed. The gallery is beautiful, the shop is well maintained, and all of the artists are really good at what they do. The artists all have their own styles, so it’s easy to find something you’ll like!

I came to Funky Rooster for my first tattoo. I chose Sarah, since I wanted a dog/cat design to honor all my 4-legged kids. I wanted a “Vintage” style tattoo.
Sarah spent time with me and gave me several options. She made me feel relaxed, and was extremely professional. I absolutely “love, love “ my tattoo! It’s exactly what I expected and she even added funky retro colors to make it really vintage.
I highly recommend this place and I’m getting ready for my second tattoo 👍

Worked with Paige today after being recommended by a friend. She did amazing work. The shop is clean and sterile. Its also got a friendly and fun vibe to it and everyone was upbeat and easy to talk to! Would recommend it to anyone from first tattoo or 20th. Also got to see Jose work on a new client who was getting his first tattoo and he was very patient and understanding.

My daughter and I just walked in asking questions re a mother daughter tattoo. Both our first. Sweetest woman at the front desk set up appointment that afternoon with Manny. Manny was more than patient with us! He was awesome, made our first tattoo experience relaxing and painless. The entire experience was awesome. We both want to go back! This place is amazing! Everyone is extremely friendly. The artwork and decor definitely caught my attention! It's also very clean. The experience was great. I love how they took their time and I LOVE my tattoo. I will definitely be coming back for more.

I just want to start off by saying that everyone in the work place is very nice, however Manny the artist that did my tattoo wasn’t as nice , I went in for a consultation to explain what I wanted & even showed him a picture of what I wanted done, after I spoke to Manny he walked outside to talk to somebody else making me feel like I wasn’t important enough. All he said before walking away was “it will be around 4 hours , and it will be $150 an hour” & I was definitely fine with that. So I scheduled my appointment and paid my deposit.
When I walked in for my appointment the nice lady in the front desk told me to fill out some papers and then it was show time , unfortunately even when I was done with filling out the paper work Manny came to me and showed me something completely different on what I wanted!! I was definitely not satisfied to say the least

This is the first tattoo shop that the front desk associate/owner and tattoo artists are actually nice! Their customer service is the reason why I decided to stick with them. I have been working with Manny and he is a true artist. Not done with my back piece yet but I am already sooooo happy with it.! If your sick of those rude tattoo shops come here. They are so professional! Thanks guys!

Best experience I've had with a tattoo shop. The shop is warm and inviting. They have original artwork (mainly large canvas paintings) hung up all over their walls, of which, all were for sale. I went in for a consultation on a Saturday and they had a sketch drawn up for me in 6 days. It was a colorful, traditional chestpiece drawn up by Sean Kim. They require a $50, non-refundable, deposit for any consultations that lead into an original sketch.
The following Saturday, I came in relatively early, (12:30), and started my session with Sean. He was polite and extremely professional. He completed my Tattoo in 4 hours. Really great price for a really great piece.
