I went to Matt Dinovo for my very first tattoo, a portrait of my dog. He completely blew me away!!! The portrait is beautiful and incredibly realistic!!! His attention to detail, calm manner, and AMAZING natural talent all combined to make this the best first tattoo experience I could have hoped for. I would recommend him to anyone!

I don’t make very many reviews on Google, but I feel the need to.
My dog of 12 years died of brain cancer in August of 2021, and losing him was one of the hardest losses I’ve ever endured. Not only because he was my first dog I rescued as an adult, and not just a family dog, but mostly because of the disease that killed him, and how quickly he deteriorated, and seeing him suffer was beyond tragic.
When I had to make the decision to put him down, I knew immediately that I needed a portrait piece of him. I searched the internet, and found Matt Dinovo. He had tattooed me before, and while I’m very awkward and have social anxiety, and just anxiety in general, and he is a man of few words, I still knew that his talent was impeccable.
When I went into my appointment, my anxiety was through the roof. I wasn’t sure what to expect, although he tried his best to explain. I was feeling ill with worry, and while Matt isn’t the best with awkward situations (I’m not either…so it was uncomfortable at first), the finished product was immaculate. He has such a gift of knowing exactly how to show my dog’s inquisitive look in his eyes. Also, my tattoo is almost all the way healed, and it’s only been a week. Quality is perfection. Regardless of awkwardness. I am so happy with how he portrayed my beloved pup.
Everything about his shop is clean, professional, and (despite anxiety) very comfortable. The amount of compliments I’ve gotten from both tattoos I’ve gotten from him just shows how gifted this guy is.

Very cool place. incredible atmosphere. I wanted a black and grey tattoo of Eddy Merckx (Greatest cyclist of all time) on my left calf. Brad did the work and the quality far exceeded my expectations. the work was done surprisingly fast and very well. I'll attach a "healed" photo. there's a little glare in the shot, but you get the idea.

Everything from scheduling an appointment to getting the tattoo went smoothly. Brad did an amazing job of taking my ideas using them to get the best design for the area I wanted it. Tattoo came out better than I could everimagine. Great people, atmosphere and a cool facility.

Penny Stahr has done several pieces for me. She takes the client's ideas and turns it into a beautiful piece of art. Every tattoo I have by Penny is exactly as I envisioned. Penny's talent is not limited to one specific style. Each piece I have is different, some black and grey and some color, and all are done with clean lines and impeccable detail. The shop is also a beautiful space. Very clean and a great atmosphere. I'm partial to my artist, but aside from that, overall experience at Black Squirrel, Council Bluffs is the best in the metro!

Matt Dinovo is my favorite local artist. He takes his craft seriously and is an incredible artist, whether it is original works or recreating something. Great with colors or black and white shading. My wife and I will always go to him. 6 tattoos between the 2 of us by him so far. That number will easily climb into the double digits.
