"Downtown Tattoos & Piercings opened its doors to Frenchmen Street in June of 2012. The shop is owned by Terry Brown, a seasoned artist that has over 20 years of experience tattooing all across the country, along with his lovely wife Hayley Waldner. Besides sharing a passion for tattoo, Terry and Hayley are entrepreneurs at heart, and they jumped at the chance to create the optimal tattoo experience when the corner space on Frenchmen St. became available. In Downtown Tattoos, Hayley and Terry have created an atmosphere that makes one feel as though the shop has been around forever. They are heavily involved with their community, and they love to hold fun events to help them connect with and contribute to the people and causes around them."

Jim Couturier did such an incredible job on my tattoo, I am beyond pleased with my experience here and will absolutely be back for many more tattoos from him!!!!

This has nothing to do with the quality of tattoo, we didn’t make it that far.
I called and scheduled 2 tattoos the day before our appointments and paid the deposit to hold our spot for 9:00pm.
That next day we could not make it and they said it was no problem then would just bump us to the next day. (Everything was fine, until here)
They called around 5 o’clock and asked if we could move our schedule up, we could not. Our appointments were for 9 and that’s what we scheduled for.
Me and my friend show up at 9:03. The shop proceeds to take two people off the street l, getting random tattoos from a vending machine and allow them to go first. Then tell us that since we were late we can’t go.
So they’re forcing us to pick another time because the deposit is nonrefundable. We can’t do that due to the work schedule.
So no tattoos, no deposit refund, bull* excuse to not get the tattoo and zero help. Just a heads up.

Everyone at the shop was super nice. I got tattooed by Jim who was so awesome to work with. He helped me figure out the perfect design and was super light handed. I will definitely be going back.

That is absolutely untrue and ridiculous. In fact I watched two other people leave your shop highly upset with the way you choose to do business. Extremely rude and childish

My husband and I got a tattoo from Pablo. The whole experience was perfect. Pablo gave great advice on my design idea and the overall execution of the tattoo was amazing. The idea may have looked simple but the lines needed a high level of technical skills and patience which Pablo has in spades. It looks like he used a ruler the lines were so straight. Thanks again for the great experience!!

I got my fourth tattoo here on a weekend friends trip to NOLA. Jim did my tattoo and he was extremely nice and did an awesome job on my tattoo! Probably my most favorite one yet. And Shaun did my husband’s and it looks incredible. Very impressed! So impressed that my husband said he would actually drive back each time for 4 hours just to get the rest of his tattoos.

Wow! What a great shop! I received a new pc of art on Nov 2, 2021. Bianca was amazing. She’s personable , professional, and and asset to Downtown Tattoo. It was a very personal pc that reflected my career and my birth heritage. She did an amazing job. She managed to get the ink in deep, but not one stripe peeled. Great Job Bianca!.. I've heard great things from locals about Downtown Tattoos and decided to get a small souvenir tattoo before heading back home. As somebody with a little over $10k in tattoos on my body, I can say that this is the worst tattoo that I have ever received. I would feel more comfortable having my 5 year old niece draw something for me to get tattooed. The local that went with me, who was a regular, has said that he will never go back after seeing how poorly my tattoo turned out. My one piece of advice if you're a tourist - do yourself a favor and GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. They can and will run with your money knowing they probably will never see you again.. a 3x1 tattoo that took 40 minutes is not worth $200 even if a professional had done it.
EDIT: decided to post a follow-up photo after my tattoo healed. Ended up at the Doctor's office after pus started coming out from under my Saniderm, which means that the equipment was not sanitized. I'm still not convinced the person that did this tattoo was an artist.
