"Downtown Tattoos & Piercings opened its doors to Frenchmen Street in June of 2012. The shop is owned by Terry Brown, a seasoned artist that has over 20 years of experience tattooing all across the country, along with his lovely wife Hayley Waldner. Besides sharing a passion for tattoo, Terry and Hayley are entrepreneurs at heart, and they jumped at the chance to create the optimal tattoo experience when the corner space on Frenchmen St. became available. In Downtown Tattoos, Hayley and Terry have created an atmosphere that makes one feel as though the shop has been around forever. They are heavily involved with their community, and they love to hold fun events to help them connect with and contribute to the people and causes around them."

This is the absolute worst tattoo I’ve ever gotten. I’ve waited for it to heal fully for the last month hoping something would change but it is so uneven, the line work looks like a stick and poke, and it is literally missing chunks. If I could go back in time and never come to this place I would, because it’s incredibly upsetting to have someone’s mistake on my body for the rest of my life.

Walked in off street with idea. Henry (Arthur) listened to our idea, immediately started sketching and made modifications as he talked and understood our "vision" of what we wanted. Very professional; helpful and patient during the whole process, until he had on paper what we wanted. We scheduled for the next day at opening to get our tattoos done. Everyone we came in contact with was awesome. Price very reasonable, actually less than expected. Execution and recieving of tattoos was flawless. Finished product was better than expected. Would take 8 hrs drive to have him do more work, without questions.

I walked in a few weeks back and asked if they did walk ins, they had me getting a tattoo within 30 minutes. I got tattooed by Jim and he was super fun to chat with and did a phenomenal job! Everyone in the shop is amazing! Highly recommend coming here if you’re looking to get a tattoo or piercing!

I walked in Sunday night and I got an awesome tattoo from the "Get What Ya' Get" machine. I wasn't in love with the first option so I just paid another $20 and I got something I liked. Everybody in the shop was super friendly and the professional. The shop itself is tidy and looks amazing. My tattoo was done by Bianca and its honestly the best looking tattoo I've ever got. I totally recommend Downtown Tattoos and Piercing if you live in the area or just visiting like I was. Best souvenir ever.

I couldn’t be happier about my experience here. The staff was amazing and extremely helpful. The artist I was blessed with was Jim and he went above and beyond to give me the tatto I didn’t even know I wanted but definitely needed! I was trying to cover up a small wrist tattoo and didn’t realize what all choices I really had. I got an amazing rose tattoo and let me tell you the craftsmanship is beyond anything I would’ve gotten anywhere else. Had a top-notch experience with Jim! Not only does he look like a cross between Ryan Gosslin & Justin Timberlake, but he’s also got an amazing yodeling voice! And man, will he yodel!! My tattoo looks amazing! I came in with a vague idea & he turned it into a beautiful reality!! He has WONDERFUL bedside manner & was extra charming throughout! Made me feel comfortable & made my leg look like a Greek Goddesses leg!

Amazing experience!! I came with my friend and got my septum piercing, and he was really good about walking me through the process. Very calm presence and a genuinely sweet dude.
It did take three attempts because the piercing kept sitting weird, but it didn’t hurt and I have a deviated septum (my bad team!). I’m glad he asked to redo it instead of just telling me it looked good, too, because I’ve had piercers who just stab you and send you out even if the piercing looks ridiculous. The team here care about their work and they want things their work to look good but more so, they want to be sure that YOU love it.
Definitely come here for some sick tats and awesome piercings!!!

Stopped in like 45 minutes before they closed for a spur of the moment tattoo, expecting to have to book time for the next day but they got me and my friend in then! We both wanted the same thing, & they were done by 2 different artists, so they're very different but we had ample time to say that wasn't what we wanted had we wanted matching tattoos. Her artist customized hers to fit with her existing sleeve, & my artist gave me a beautifully shaded, quality piece. Pricey, but it's quality work in a touristy area.

I walked in on a Thursday night and found a nice little drawing that Jim had put together. He had a lot of great tattoos drawn up and I fell in love with one in particular. Jim has a really great eye and a very light touch. It was a great experience altogether. I would recommend him for first timers and collectors alike!
