Howling Sorcery Tattoo

Howling Sorcery is the most genuinely welcoming tattoo parlor I've ever been in, and I've been in... a few. If you're new to ink, if you had a bad experience elsewhere, if you just don't like the hyper-masculine-in-crowd vibe of most shops, I'd highly suggest you check this one out - and my guy Max in particular! He gives good art. I'm officially up to the number of tattoos where I'm not totally sure how many I have, but his stand out both for the artistry and for the fun of getting them in a cool environment from someone I can now call a friend.

I have been going to Ren and Colly for my tattoo works for years. They have nailed every tattoo exactly how I wanted, we're very understanding of my pain tolerance and when I needed a break (or when to just call it the end of that session). For the price, it's worth every penny. The shop has a great atmosphere with kind people ready to help try and make your vision and idea real and on you for the rest of your life. Only place I will go to ever.

The atmosphere and energy here is amazing. Max was super amazing and patient with me. Just got the line work for my first tattoo done. I am so happy and grateful to have gotten the chance to go here. I will be sure to update my review with some great photos when the tattoo is completed!

Ok this is literally about a half a year late but Ren did my first bigger tattoo (Sukuna's finger from JJK) and it was the best tattoo experience I've ever had. He was super professional and easy to talk to and I felt very comfortable and relaxed in the space (which was also very clean). This is now my tattoo shop of choice and have recommended this place to all of my friends for any of their tattoo needs. 10/10!!!

Howling Sorcery is a new gem in the Kansas City area. The artists are so kind and welcoming and it redefines the atmosphere of a tattoo parlor. There is a special emphasis on inclusion that is hard to find in the tattoo industry. I have been going to Max for a while now and have always felt so welcome and comforted by him. If you want a special place to go and get a memorable tattoo then this is the place and I would highly recommend talking to the artists at Howling. They will make you feel like a human being.

Best tattoo experience I’ve ever had, everybody is friendly, the shop was very nice, and it was easy to find. My tattoo (cover up) came out BEAUTIFUL, Ren’s design was perfect, everything went smoothly. 10/10 will be going back.

Majority of my tattoos have been done by the owner of Howling Sorcery, and I get the most complements on the tattoos they have done. The shop is a clean, welcoming and safe place, with so many amazing artists! Highly recommend

A little odd. I think it's a spoon theory issue, but if so [or not] they could probably do some business modifications to address, compensate or prevent issues.

I can't say it's all a spoon issue because they totally treat their personal pages as professional, but frequently post complaining about how people are messaging personal pages yet never share or tag their business pages. (Who uses Facebook as a primary means of communication on the personal level. friends have my direct contact methods)

As for the the art, they create great flash anime. Tattoos not bad, but then you're going for their emotion vs yours. Again worked up a base to be booked more than a month at a time.

Not sure if that busy is just a spoon theory issue or real tattoo busy.

We'll see how the piece looks over time.

Conclusion very niche work. Mostly self produced flash. (Anime) moody, and could use work creating a professional front and referring to it.

So, first of all, I have to just completely thank everyone who works here. I have gotten two tattoos from Max, and not only were my tattoos very well done and beautiful, but Max is such a wonderful person to work with as an artist. He is considerate, professional, and knowledgeable, but also extremely talented, welcoming, and friendly. I came in for a tattoo in October, and I loved the energy at Howling Sorcery. Everyone said hello to me, everyone talked to me when I wanted to talk during the process (it helps me ignore the pain of a tattoo haha), and the other artists who worked there displayed amazing talent through their work, and were also very open and friendly. I had a great experience there, and I think the staff perfectly blends a relaxed, inclusive environment with very professional and skilled artists. Anyone looking for an incredible tattoo you will love forever should go here. Thank you Howling Sorcery for everything you do and make possible!

Colly Aaron and Ren are so sweet! I'd never been to a professional tattoo shop before but they made the experience incredibly comfortable and I was very anxious about going in to a professional shop for my first time. Ren designed me an absolutely gorgeous haku from spirited away design and the entire shoulder piece only took an hour and a half to do! When it got painful, Ren talked me through it and made it suck a lot less. Drove from lawrence to kc to get it done and it really hurt, but incredibly worth it and an incredible price! A very kind team of individuals, can't wait to go back
