Anne Morando is AWESOME!! I followed her from her last studio, and am so so happy with the work she has done. I won't let anyone else tattoo me...in fact, I have another appt with her in just a couple of days. She also tattooed my husband's half sleeve and we couldn't be happier. Anatomy is clean, fun, and very homey. Love coming here!

I called the shop yesterday to see if there was any availability for a walk in. She asked what I wanted, I told her in great detail. A dagger through a heart with a banner around it. Super traditional design, just your classic flash art. I wanted it between 5-6 inches and the area of my body has no other work around it, so she had a blank canvas to work with. I explained all of this, and told her the tattoo would take about two hours, but it shouldn’t take longer than three hours. She said that was a fine time frame. She checked with the artist and got confirmation that she was able to take me. I was an hour away, but the receptionist said that was the perfect amount of time to get the design drawn up and ready before I arrived. I emailed her my design idea immediately, and I drove the hour trip there. I included my phone number in case she needed to get ahold of me during my trip for any further questions or change in plans.
I arrived, and I was immediately told by the receptionist that what I wanted was way too much work for a “just a walk in.” I was told to choose between the dagger and the heart, or just come back in a couple weeks with an appointment to get the full piece.
I would have absolutely understood if I was told this over the phone.. however, it cost me a 2 hour round trip, the cost of a four hour babysitter, took my entire holiday, and it was too late in the afternoon to find another shop available.
I don’t ever leave bad reviews, I’ve never left a negative one before at any business, I usually move on and find somewhere I DO like instead haha. I’m taking the time to write this one however, because receptionist was SO incredibly rude and unapologetic about it, it really put me off. The sign on the door about welcoming everyone and being a safe place for all people was so exciting to see!
Unfortunately, my experience was the exact opposite.

Knew the main idea for my tattoo but let Anne use her creativity to make it better, absolutely did not disappoint. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to get some ink, first timer or full canvas this place is fantastic.

Most bizarre tattoo experience of my life (even more bizarre than the guy that kept sexually harassing me, who's since been run out of town). I like getting work done by different artists who's work I admire, so I set up an appointment at Anatomy (I'm not going to name the specific person). She didn't even introduce herself to me, and I don't think one word was said the entire time other than when she told me that she refused to tattoo the specific area I wanted tattooed (because apparently only heavily tattooed people should be allowed to get tattoos there. Which, I am. I was wearing a sweater and jeans and I guess she couldn't tell).
The tattoo is decent. That isn't the point. The point is that I keep encountering tattoo artists that can't seem to be bothered by the people that are paying them. It's truly bizarre. She's a great artist, but I won't be going back to her due to her lack of professionalism. Maybe she figured she already has enough clients? I'll be sticking to my awesome, tried and true artists that have become my friends over the years.
Being tattooed isn't JUST about the tattoo itself. It's also about the experience that you'll inevitably associate with the tattoo.
Come on tattoo artists of Portland! Get it together!

Been going here for many years now. Their artists are professional and experienced. They take walk-ins (when available to do so) and their consultations go very well. The artists will know what you want after consultations and come up with amazing work.
