Such a great experience! The shop is welcoming, clean and everyone seemed friendly. My artist was Nate Luna who did an absolutely amazing job. I brought him some ideas and he transformed them into an awesome design. He was super nice and made me feel very comfortable. He is now the only artist I will be seeing! Can’t wait to come back for my next one.

I stumbled on The Hive purely by accident one day and met Roll Hardy. I had no idea he was one of the owners at the time. We talked about what I was looking for and he took an outline of the tattoo I wanted covered up. We did everything over text and Roll was super accommodating on changes as I came up with them. Roll came up with the design that I loved and we set an appt. Everyone in the shop is super friendly and I felt really comfortable in the shop because its so clean and bright, which I found refreshing in a tattoo shop. I would HIGHLY recommend this shop, and simply say...you get what you pay for. Thanks Roll for an awesome tattoo

The Hive has an incredible, diverse, and talented group of artists. Their shop is clean, there's ample parking, and you won't need a more friendly group of dedicated tattoo enthusiasts anywhere in Portland. Joanne is my artist of choice and tattoos that are over a decade old still receive constant compliments for their composition, color, and detail. I'm fair weather I am often asked is my tattoos are new because, even after years, the colors are bright, vibrant, and show almost imperceptible bleed.
Update: it is been 17 years since my first tattoo from the folks who are now at The Hive and I am as pleased as I was on the first day.

I booked an apt with Roll from the shop about a month in advance and he said first that he could get a drawing done of the tattoo by the end of the month, he couldn't deliver and I had to bug him about it. Then as my apt was quickly coming up, there was no communication until I had to repeatedly reach out to him about my design. He wasn't willing to make the small tweaks which I wanted because this is permanently going on my body so I wanted it to be perfect. I told him that I was the type of person that went through three rounds of drawing before it goes onto my body and it seemed like he got trusted after I told him to make small changes. 20 minutes before I was suppose to leave for my appointment he refunded my deposit and did not answer my call as to why. So I got ghosted. Bad experience here I would not recommend him (Roll Hardy).

The Hive is the best tattoo shop I have ever been to. The owners are awesome people and the quality of thier artists is second to none. The shop is clean, neat and in a cool part of town. All my tattoo work goes to Joanne. She is an amazing artist and a great person. Don't waste your time and hard earned money elsewhere.

Agnes is amazing. She really takes the time to get you what you want if you let it happen (ie bring lots of photos and references of what you want they aren't mind readers they're artists). I went in to get my tattoo and after talking with her we didn't rush into it. She listened to me and took the time to do it perfect. She also had me triple check everything!! I had one of the dates wrong and before we got that far triple checked. And sure enough one of the dates I gave was wrong. Easy fix no problem. This piece has allot of importance to me and she really cared. Oh and she had a light touch just amazing. Highly recommend Agnes. All the other artists at the shop where very professional and just down to earth real people. The HIVE is my new spot for ink. And Agnese I'll see you again soon!!! We're gonna get to know each other. THANK YOU AGNES!!!!
