Golden Rule Tattoo

This tattoo spot is our new favorite place in Downtown Phoenix! The staff is friendly, funny, and incredibly talented. They accepted our three walk-in tattoos no problem, and we're blown away. Cerny did all three of our tatts and we will definitely be making appointments with him in the future. His eye for detail is unmatched. We came here on a whim because of the great reviews and were not disappointed! With tattoos, you get what you pay for. That being said, this is definitely not the cheapest place around but for a good reason! Each artist has their own pricing but they're truly all incredible.

It was my second time at Golden Rules Tattoo, but my first time having a tattoo completed with Bare. I sent Bare the idea of what I was wanting and he exceed my expectations of the tattoo. I can not wait to book my second appointment with Bare to freshen up an old tattoo and add some more work to my arm. Thanks, Bare and all of the amazing staff at Golden Rules Tattoo. ❤️

Incredibly professional. Super clean location. Beautiful work. They've moved locations since my original review and now have an additional studio space for a couple of the artists behind the main building in addition. Still great, professional, and super super clean.

The window says “we’re nice”, I wonder what happened in order for them to have to put that up. I noticed as another client was leaving the staff immediately starting making disparaging comments about the clients request. Yeah maybe the request was strange but do you have to make the whole shop hear the negative comments? They came to you because they trust you, less than favorable man that sucks. The artists are really passive aggressive towards each other, I’m not sure they like each other? I wish I could like this place, but unfortunately I won’t be coming back… certainly some talent in the shop but just doesn’t feel right after how they acted… Save your money and purchase artwork for your body from artists that actually care.. :(

Tianna is truly an artist. She did a memorial piece for my mom and I was nervous that nothing would feel "good enough", but she blew me away. The lines, the color, the shading, the little details - it's amazing. I can't stop admiring my new tattoo. The colors she chose go so well together, and the little highlights really make it pop. It feels like the product of a lot of skill and a little magic too.

I got my tattoo done by Emily. She’s an apprentice, but you’d never know that. Her work is incredible and beautiful. She is an amazing artist. I love my tattoo so much!! I can’t wait to go back and get more from her. The shop is clean, has a fun environment and they play good music! ☺️ I’d highly suggest checking this shop out for your next tattoo! ❤️

Dude, great experience! My friend Emily Wright tattooed me this week and I was blown away by both the incredible experience and cleanliness of the shop. On top of that the vibes were on point which is always important. Will come back

Hands down every time I go to Golden Rule I feel like I don't want to even go home that place is amazing aside from being in a lot of pain right now from the tattoo I recently got and the tattoo for some of them I think this one is well bought I really rather enjoyed it you really do pay for quality

Just got my first tattoo here and had a great experience! The place is clean and welcoming, the staff are really friendly and helpful, and the tattoo looks amazing! Jen was my artist and she did a fantastic job designing the tattoo and bringing it to life! Will definitely be recommending Golden Rule to my friends

Probably the coolest tattoo shop I've been to in Arizona. Visited the supremely talented Tianna Simms and could not have been happier with my results. If you are looking for some of the most talented artists in the valley, look no further.

Was referred by a friend. Even though the location was quite a distance from my house, I am VERY happy I came here. Bare got right to work on my arm, we had a good conversation, and he was done before I knew it! Got my new favorite tattoo. I highly recommend!

First time was great it was just a walk in. I liked the artist and all but the second time not so much. I scheduled a session a full week later for a bigger tattoo and it really should of been a one day session but after two hours he was like oh I have another appointment cost me $400. I didn't like that to much but what could I do. So I scheduled two weeks out and the day of my appointment he messages me telling me he double booked and canceled my appointment like a hour before i was suppose to be there. Dude you had two weeks to work it out. So for walk in its great but for appointment tattoos atleast with my guy it's a no go. Going to another shop to finish the work. If I need to call 24 hours before a session to cancel or I lose my deposit then the artist needs to be held for the same responsibility.

I walked in with questions about availability and cost, and walked out with a tattoo. I love my pieces that John has done. He does amazing line work. The parlor is clean and nice.

The golden rule tattoo is an amazing tattoo shop. It's more like a salon. It's incredibly clean, and some of the friendliest people you will ever meet. Rocky made my tattoo come to life. It's absolute perfection. Getting ready for my next one with him. Thank you friends. You're all so kind!

BEWARE!!!! RIPPED OFF!!!! I am very disappointed by my experience in this shop. I went in for a simple tattoo, nothing big just line work. John Swaltz was my tattoo artist and he was by far the worst tattoo artist I have ever dealt with. He lacked bedside manner, he was very condescending and seem irritated when I dislike his tattoo design after showing him a picture of EXACTLY what I wanted. I asked him multiple times if i can send him the picture to make it easier on him but instead he said NO. He had enough time to get this done as I had to wait an hour before I was tattooed, he unnecessary made it difficult for no reason, maybe because I'm a POC since he didnt talked to the previous client like he talked to me. He definitely hates doing walk-ins and if he would have told me that before he could have recommended another colleague. After all he decided to change my tattoo when he didn't need to and when he tattooed me he cause unnnecessary pain. I have other tattoos so I'm familiar with the pain but this time it felt personal, I can tell he purposely wanted me to be in pain. I was respectful, I just wanted what I went in there for and If he was not able to do the work he could have recommended another colleague. After he was done, he had the audacity to charge me $140 for less than 20 minutes of work, which was around the same price as the previous client when that client got a bigger tattoo with shading and spent an hour in the chair. I do not recommend this tattoo artist at all. It's not worth it when you have to go to another tattoo parlor to fix his mediocre work.
