Justin Was amazing, from begging to end! He showed me the stencil, made sure the placement and size were to my liking, took his time to clean up his station throughly before I was able to get in there. He was very light handed while doing the tattoo! Had a great conversation about why he moved away from Chicago!! Tattoo still healing and peeling but I really had a great experience! 10/10 will definitely visit the shop again!

After many hours and discussions about life, family, passion, why some disney characters wear clothes while others don’t, etc etc; I come out with a beautiful sleeve. From the first contact to developing concept and design, to execution and finish; Justin was amazing. He’s professional, kind, funny, passionate about his craft. He was able to translate a vague vision in my brain onto my skin. Before we even began, he has already put in hours of work. The shop: Clean, bright, comfy, cozy, decorated beautifully. Fantastic music. The artists: Don’t let their super chill vibe and warmth deceive you. They are talented and fiercely dedicated to their craft. This is now six months later, my sleeve healed beautifully. I still find myself staring at this beautiful artwork I get to carry around with me wherever I go. PS I sent my kid to get her first tattoo with Justin. She sent her bf to get his first tattoo with him too. I’ll def send my other kids to him when the tattoo bug hits them.

Justin Tauch completed a stunning 3/4 sleeve on me and a full sleeve on my partner, and we both absolutely love them! The culture is supportive, kind and inviting. The space is frequently sanitized, well organized, and beautifully curated. Every artist there is professional and inviting, and they prioritize making clients feel centered and valued as humans throughout the process. Having sat through multiple sessions, I appreciate the care and consistency with which the studio operates. Justin Tauch created a custom design for me that took my breath away. His designs are intentionally crafted to work with an individual’s anatomical structure,, and his mastery of color is dazzling. Over the course of many hours as he expertly and efficiently tattooed, I really appreciated that he was responsive to my desire to talk or not, and checked in periodically to see if I needed anything. He is such a good and kind person. My sleeve is over a year healed and looks so crisp and vibrant. Walking where I live in Long Beach, I often have strangers ask who did my piece. Breakwater Tattoo is everything good, and one of the true treasures of Long Beach, thanks to the commitment and vision of its in-house owner, Justin Tauch. I give it the highest recommendation!

After 3 years of rescheduling due to covid restrictions on travelling, I was finally able to make the trip to Los Angeles. When I arrived at the awesome studio in Long beach, I was greeted with friendly people, great music, and good vibes! I am stoked with the end result and am now the proud owner of Justin´s custom made art! Well worth the trip and the wait!! I am for sure his biggest Belgian fan😁!!

I had such an incredible experience the 5 sessions I have gotten tattoos by the owner, Justin. The shop is very clean, always has great music playing, and the team is very welcoming. Every artist is extremely friendly and they all take time to see what the others are working on. My experience with Justin was amazing. He’s a super friendly and kind guy and his work is incredible. I consistently get compliments for my half sleeve that was done by Justin; when we spoke about what I wanted, he delivered far beyond my expectations. 10/10 recommend this shop to anyone looking to get incredible work done. You will not regret it.

I worked with Justin several years ago at a different studio and he was amazing. It’s been 7 years and I still love the work! He was so great to work with in creating the art as well as getting the actual tattoo.

I found Breakwater through traveling to Long Beach for a work trip and have absolutely loved my experiences here. I came for my first tattoo of substantial size by myself in a new city, and felt safe, comfortable, and left with a tattoo from Justin Tauch that was beautiful and healed really well. Also commissioned Justin for a piece of artwork when the world shut down for Covid and its the nicest piece of art I own. I had such a good experience I came back for another tattoo when work brought me back to LB. Highly recommend Breakwater if you're in the area, although I'd check to see in advance if they'll have time for an appointment as they stay busy!

I'm laughing about the comment of "photoshop." I've gotten tattooed by Justin more than once and there is a reason why I keep going back. To show you there is no photoshop in the photos, here is a photo of my tattoo done almost a year ago to the day. I took this photo today. Still looks great and I still continue to get compliments on it. Let's talk about tattoo shop experience - I've been getting tattooed since I was legally able too. I've learned over the years what a "good shop" is. Breakwater exceeds standard tattoo shop expectations. From the moment you walk in you can see how CLEAN and well maintained this shop is. The artist are professional, kind, and bring years of knowledge and experience to the table. They each have their own style which makes this shop so unique. Don't let one bad review discourage you from checking out this shop and it's artists. It's truly a gem in Long Beach.

I got my first major tattoo with Justin after seeing his work in both MT and in California and I couldn't be happier with it! His skillset helped bring my ideas to life in ways that I didn't know were possible. His line work is superb, the artwork is gorgeous and the shop is a place I'd enjoy just hanging out if I could the artists are so chill and love to talk about their work. When the tattoo itch comes back I'll be coming back again.

Possibly the worst tattoo studio in Long beach! Don’t get me wrong, the studio is really well decorated; however the artists are just awful so RUDE!!! They all act like they are famous celebrities; point of fact is they are all just your normal tattoo artists NOTHING special. I saw the work on IG because it looked so nice!! and wanted to go have a look, funny enough even with the attitude they have, a customer was also their complaining about a tattoo they got, guys and warning to potential customers this tattoo studio spends more time photo editing the tattoos than the actual tattoo they have done, the customer show me what he got and what they posted on IG wow so different!! The owner, Justin Tauch, is just a terribly rude, very ill-mannered and uneducated individual, however very good Photoshop skills, studios like this should be called out!! Rude and too much editing on the tattoos they do!!!!!!!

Tan is an excellent artist and walks you through everything from the artwork through to the actual tattoo. Excellent work and I will be going in soon for more tattoos in the future!

This tattoo shop is the best place to get your first or even 2nd, 3rd, 4th tattoo or etc however many! The artists there are extremely helpful and they know what they're doing! Tan is super friendly and will walk you through the process. Never has there been a dull moment with the staff here!

I’ve had 7 pieces done by Tan and love every single one of them. Justin, Tan, and the rest of the staff are the perfect balance of friendly and professional. The studio itself is spotless and cozy, can’t recommend highly enough!

TAN IS THE BESSSSTTT!! The shop is clean and a comfortable environment and not intimidating like other shops. 12/10 recommend getting a tattoo from Tan or any artists from this shop.

Okay not sure who mister troll face is down below, but this tattoo shop only deserves 5 stars! Justin is so talented and very professional. He strictly adheres to all safety measures and sanitary practices, and the shop is so clean but doesn’t feel sterile and cold. As a healthcare professional, I’m super picky and pay close attention when I get any work done anywhere. I’ve never felt anything but comfortable at Breakwater. PS, love the cool photos and artwork on the walls! Looking forward to getting more work done soon!
