The owner and lead tattoo artist, Nic Borgwat is fantastic at what he does. He has an eye for details and the ability to transfer that onto the skin via the tattoo machine's needle. Definitely worth checking out if you are thinking about getting inked.

I got some constellation tattoos a couple years ago from the owner, Nic, and to be frank, they look terrible like someone drew on me with a thick sharpie. The lines are all uneven, the stars are blobs, and some of the lines connect to stars and others dont? Its VERY inconsistent. Ive gone to other artists to talk about covering it up, but every time they see it they immediately ask "oh my god, who did that to you?" And then tell me that theres nothing they can do because the lines are way too bold and black to be covered. So now if i want to cover it up the general consensus is that i have to get a couple sessions of laser removal before anything can be done about it. Ive gotten other tattoos from Nic in the past that are beautiful (which is why i dont want to give 1 star), but these constellations, that cover my entire lower half of my arm are honestly embarassing.

My old tattoo artist just ghosted on me, even though he said he would touch up his work (it happens I get it but it was 2 half sleeves and 2K worth of work), oh well, so I decided to try out a new shop for their Friday the 13th tattoo special. I’ve always heard great things about Straight Edge Tattoo. I arrived only waited about an hour. Then it was my turn, I met Nic the owner and he is incredible! Very respectful, and actually listens to what you want and placement you want it at. I have a lot of work I need touched up from my previous tattoo guy, and a lot of work I am excited to get! My husband came with me as well, and he’s ready to get tatted by Nic as well! We can’t wait to go back!

i love the atmosphere!! i’m not the best with names so i’ll only talk about a couple people, but what i can say is that it is an amazing safe space for queer and neurodivergent people, which is a major plus for me. they were professional, and the piercing was affordable as well! echo was incredible and we had great conversation, the owner (who’s name i unfortunately don’t remember) greeted me with so much warmth and charisma. i will be back!!

Not going to do one star just evacuate Iv got two tattoos and piercings here when I was younger but came here two months ago to get my first visible tattoo and have never been so disappointed in the line work. Spent $100 just to be so upset on my first visible tattoo and end up having to go to another shop to get it redone due to how bad the tattoo was. Disappointed in the artist that didn’t communicate to me that line work wasn’t his specialty. Especially disappointed that he fully charged me for a messed up tattoo and let me walk out that door. This was my go to place but will no longer be returning due to being stuck with a tattoo I hate on my arm.

I see why people think highly of this place, it’s so weird and different and to me, that’s always a good sign. There was some slight hiccups, but that just comes with the territory. People don’t realize that it’s more expensive to run a smaller business, so shop prices are a little higher than going to some place with a lot of artists that just want to get you in and out as fast as possible. That being said, even tho I got a smaller tattoo, it looks really good. Better than some of the others I have gotten at different shops. Nic even looked at a tat that I need fixed and came up with ideas on the spot, even tho he was in the middle of something. That says a lot. When people care about the craft, it shows. I’m excited to see what Nic can do for my “cover up”.

I highly recommend Straight Edge Tattoo and Nic (artist/owner) for any body work. I worked with Nic to design a custom tattoo and he was great to collaborate with. He has a great sense of color and depth as well as body part considerations. My tattoo took 2 sessions to complete and Nic was easy to schedule with and take feedback on what I was looking for. He also had ideas of his own which were far better than mine. His after care is very good and my tattoo healed quickly and without scabbing or itching! I'm thrilled with the outcome and will come back again. Also, he runs a clean shop and took the time to sanitize very well before and after my sessions.
