Could not recommend this place highly enough !!! Ava did a great job and made me feel so relaxed and welcome. I love my tattoo !!! I’m so happy with it.

I wouldn't recommend anyone go here. My experience was terrible, the lady wanted to over charge me for a medium tat, she then got upset at the colors I picked out an refused my service. What a waste of time. Deep skin tattoo is what I recommend 👌 there the oldest tattoo shop in Hawaii, check them out.

Just got done my cover up with Elmo and I’m madly in love with it. I’ve had artists in the past tell me there was no way to cover it up but Elmo never once shied away from it and the result is amazing. 11/10 recommend!

The place seemed ok, but after repeatedly asking my wife about the color pattern, the artist still screwed it up and just laughed about. Not impressed! It was to represent our children and the order they born.

The lady that tattooed my husband did a better job than Big Island Mike did on his brother. Probably should have made an appointment.

Booked an appointment the day before. Staff was very professional, flexible, and transparent. Elmo did my tattoo and I love it. Price for tattoo was reasonable. The tattoo exceeded my expectation.

Was very impressed with how these guys do business, i met Kujo the night before at a local tavern and he really hooked it up! The environment from when u walk in is very professional and very good vibes! the lady running the front desk was super sweet and we talked about how we are both from washington, if u want tattoos done in hawaii go here!! rly close to everything as well! thank u so much kujo and team will definitely be back

Awesome Tattoo shop. Went in with an idea and came out with an art masterpiece! Kujo rocks! Brilliant and talented artist. Out of all my tats, this is by far the most intricate and detailed. Very fair priced pieces. Will go back next time I’m in town. Highly recommend!! Don’t go anywhere else.

Got stuck here for like 6 hours during a police barricade, but definitely a great environment to be stuck in. The people here are awesome and I love the tattoo.

Visiting Honolulu last week, my husband was thinking it would be a nice gift for him and I to get couple tattoos. We had our eye on Hale Nui tattoo and decided to go in for some time to schedule. The gal behind the desk was helpful and friendly. Loved her Belching Beaver tattoo! We had not decided on what we wanted and she gave advise we can take our time that evening, think about what we want and go back to schedule for a later time the following day. The following day we were ready, scheduled the time and back that night to get them done. Anna Funk was our artist. Love her personality. Witty and fun. The atmosphere is relaxing, warm and friendly. We are in love with the results and get a lot of compliments 💕

I was looking for a place to get a memorable tattoo while vacationing for my birthday. I found this place around the corner from the Udon restaurant, walked in, and let the magic happen. My birthday tattoo was perfect, thanks to Hale Nui Tattoo Company in Honolulu, HI 12/20/21 💖

Dodged a bullet here. Walked into an completely empty shop while on vacation to get a smallish wave on the side of my hand. Was pretty much told they wouldn’t do it and said it would “look like shit” I asked the artist what/where he would prefer to do the tat as I am open to give artists creative feeedom. No ideas or direction from any of the 3 peaople behind the counter. Picked a different design and the artist said “do you even know what your getting?” Really bro ? Do better. That’s when I knew i would rather give my $250 someone less fortunate for the holidays. I’ve never been treated so poorly an establishment anywhere… let alone a tourist destination. Save your money and go somewhere else. ** added after posting for context. I am not new to the industry,I have a full sleeve and have been tattooed by many different artists in Canada and the US and have never experienced something like this before 😬

My wife and I both got tattoos here on a recommendation from a friend. The experience was clean, professional, and fun. Dwayne and Elmo both obviously care about their work and we would absolutely be back, if we ever have the chance.

Cannot recommend this place enough. I came in here on Sunday after querying at another tattoo shop down the road and not getting very good vibes from them. The girl working the desk was so welcoming and immediately made me feel super relaxed and comfortable in the shop. Booked in for an appointment to get a palm tree on my ankle on Friday night. Came back down (I was pretty early) on Friday, and Elmo and Dwayne were working. They were still with their previous appointments, so I didn’t end up getting on the table until almost 2 hours later, but honestly did not mind at all, all of us in the shop were chatting, laughing, and just generally having a good time. Elmo did my tattoo for me, and I’m so impressed with his work. It actually didn’t hurt as much as I expected, and at the end, I impulsively decided to get another one, so Elmo also did a Southern Cross constellation on my wrist. He was super cool, gave me a great price for the two pieces, and sent me off with a bunch of stickers 😍 Will 100% be coming back to Elmo if I get more tattoos done in Hawaii, and cannot praise the shop environment enough, it was such a contrast to the first place I went. Definitely go here if you are wanting tattoos done while in Waikiki!!
