James Amsden at the South Portland location is one of the most talented, kind, welcoming, and professional people I have ever had the pleasure of working with. He did an unbelievably amazing coverup for me of a tattoo that I just despised. I had such an incredible experience at Dark Harbor, and I plan on eventually getting a sleeve overtime through him. I cant even express in words how fantastic my experience was here. He is a true artist and gentleman. I would recommend him to absolutely anyone and everyone. Just amazing!!! My daughter and I are absolutely flabbergasted at how awesome Dark Harbor tattoo parlor is! From the moment we entered the reception area to the moment we met Abby and throughout the whole process, we realize that this is NOT your everyday average parlor. Very professional! This was my first tattoo and I was extremely nervous, but the moment we walked in (beautiful reception area) and met Abby (love her!) it all melted away. This has been the most perfect experience that I could possibly have had. I couldn’t imagine it being any better. Abby is so bubbly and kind and so thorough and informative, she made our experience very special. And I never thought I would ever say this, but I’m looking forward to my next, and Abby will be my first choice at Dark Harbor. I just got the Phoenix tattoo done by Mateo and the Horus one retouched (it was done a while back by a different artist). Dark Harbor is clean, bright, and beautifully decorated. I love that they reply to an email appt request in a couple of business days or less AND they answer their phone. The front desk folks were really nice. Mateo really listened to what I wanted and nothing felt rushed about it. He was kind, down to earth, and does beautiful work. Pricrs were very fair. This is the only place and artist I'll be going for future tattoos. Mateo is a true artist who loves what he does and it shows. If you book your tattoo with him, you won't regret it!
