Both Raul and Benja are outstanding artists and kind humans. I've been going here for years to have my back worked on and I have always loved the energy in there and these sweet artists. I am so grateful to Raul for the lasting friendship forged entirely from being one of his canvasses. Not sure who was in the shop when the couple of negative reviews were written, but I highly doubt it was Raul or Benja. I conducted a lot of research before choosing Raul, as everyone should before choosing an artist, and I have never regretted it for a moment. So, if you're looking for kind-hearted folks who listen to you, work with you, and produce gorgeous art, I really think you can't go wrong here.

My girlfriend wanted to get a small tattoo of her mothers name after she passed. She wanted it about 1" x 0.5" across on her ankle in simple writing. So we go in to the shop and look at the sample books which looked fine - the tattoo was so simple she didn't really care who did it. So we inquire about shop minimum prices. Well the tattoo artist we spoke to goes ballistic, telling us we should be ashamed of ourselves by seeking a tattoo based on price rather than quality. My girlfriend ended up running out in tears. She just wanted a name on her foot, not a full back piece or anything requiring more than basic writing skills. This shop will NEVER see our business.

I've known Josh Hawkins for a long time, always thought to be an upstanding, solid businessman with integrity. I was excited for him to get in the shop at Universal Rites and looking forward to him COMPLETING WORK HE HAD MADE AN AGREEMENT ON AND BEEN PAID, but he DID NOT follow through due to his extra-curricular activities, made him shady. So now my daughter sits with a half done tattoo and I do NOT have mine at all because he won't finish now. SO IF YOU WANT WORK DONE BY A SHADY GUY, GO AHEAD

I know looking for a tattoo shop can be hard, well look no farther. This shop is amazing! The artists are friendly and so sweet and funny. I went here to get coordinating tattoos (cheesy I know). We got to the shop about 30 mins before they closed, and they were nice enough to stay open a little later for us. They made the whole experience fun and enjoyable. I had to take off my shirt for my tattoo and both of the artist were discreet and always making sure I was comfortable. I would highly recommend this shop to anyone. 11/10

I have been in countless tattoo studios, unfortunately a common compromise one must make when getting a high quality tattoo is that you often are at the mercy of the artist and his/her ego. There's nothing worse than giving money to someone who is unfriendly and unfortunately many tattoo artists are not the most warm friendly people. HOWEVER, BENJA is amazing, from the minute you walk into the studio you feel comfortable and feel like you are being well taken care of and that benja has your best interests at heart. I would highly recommend universal right tattoo to anyone looking for some new ink, it's handsdown the best tattoo studio in town.
