Bex, the owner of Oak Iris Tattoo is an extremely talented artist both on skin and paper. My first tattoo with her was everything I’d hoped for and I’ve already booked another one! Spending three hours having Bex etch her art on my 69-year old arm flew by with a minimal amount of pain and I can’t recommend her highly enough!

Got tattooed with Mac and she was amazing! She was so fun to talk to and very collaborative! She took the time to help me figure out the perfect tattoo along with placement. Her price was extremely reasonable and she said touch ups are free whenever I need them. I trusted her with my first tattoo, and I am so glad I did! Her attention to detail and perfection is amazing!! Highly recommend. She not on their website, but does practice here. Her handle is @DaddyMacTats on instagram if you’re interested in line work, or handwriting. <3
As far as the shop itself, very very clean and welcoming. Plenty of free snacks. I felt super safe and comfortable while I was there. 10/10 will be going back. (:

I am so, so lucky to have found Bex. I have a birthmark that I’ve always been self-conscious about, and I wasn’t sure if it was even possible to create something beautiful around it to camouflage it, but when I had my first free consultation with her over Zoom she gave me so much hope. At the time I lived out of state and my job didn’t allow me to travel, and it wasn’t for another full year that I was able to get to Portland and have an in-person consultation, and another four months until I was able to get the tattoo. Words cannot express my gratitude at that kind of customer service. The tattoo itself was a tall order—I asked for a slightly cartoonish seal, in brown tones to disguise my birthmark, with watercolor and abstract elements. Some people might be scared to give that much creative freedom to an artist but that is exactly why I wanted to work with Bex. I’d seen her art and knew that her vision would be so much better than anything I could imagine. I was right, and the art is everything I’d hoped it to be. But in addition to the art itself, Bex was really thoughtful about the placement of the tattoo, which is in an awkward position on my elbow. On the day of, she made modifications to her own design on the fly, just to get the placement a little bit better. A minor adjustment maybe, but proof that she’s always considerate of the client even with the smallest details. Overall, it was a two-year process from consultation to completion. Only an exceptional artist, professional, and person could be so patient, thoughtful, and kind.

The tat place can sometimes be intimidating, especially if it's your first time, but Bex and company extinguished that stereotype the moment we set foot in the door. S.O. was getting a revision of a piece on her arm that she'd had for 15 years, and she hates technology with a fiery passion (God bless her restraint) so I'm here to tell you everything went great! Fair price, friendly service. 6 stars if I was allowed to give more than 5!

This beautiful piece of art graced my arm in 2022, looking beautiful during and after the healing process. Bex was kind, attentive, and precise — communicating with me clearly before and during the process and creating amazing art as a result. This tattoo has deeply affected me and how I celebrate the skin I’m in. There is an alchemy that happens when an artist works with the body as a canvas. Bex has mastered this art and science with a heavy dose of talent and pure magic.

Bex is a very thorough, careful, creative, and talented tattoo artist. I flew all the way from Minnesota to Portland to get her to tattoo me. It is so beautiful it makes me happy every time I look at it!

Love Bex's work and love this studio. The vibe is calming, the work is incredibly artistic, and Bex is extremely professional with a very light touch. They are easy to work with and I felt comfortable with the Covid precautions taken. I got a memorial tattoo with some botanical accents, and the color and line work were delightful - can't do it justice with a photo. Looking forward to my next piece!

I got several tattoos many years ago, and recently got one from Bex at Oak Iris. I was so impressed with the sanitation and cleanliness - compared to 20 years ago it was night and day. I felt very safe getting tattooed at Oak Iris.
The tattoo itself is absolutely wonderful - I came to Bex with an idea to cover an older tattoo, and she created a great work of art based on it. The actual application process was smooth, and the finished piece looks fabulous. You would never know it's a cover-up. I would recommend Bex to anyone looking for an artist to take their tattoo idea and make it reality.

I have several tattoos from Bex, and each session has been exceptional. She is clear, forthright, and an excellent communicator--this is important because of the highly personal nature of getting permanent artwork, and the nature of placing trust in the artist to bring her vision to the project.
Her lines are light and clean and her touch is gentle, resulting in tattoos that are careful yet expressive, and they heal delightfully well.

Rebecca is an amazing tattoo artist! Her control of the machine is so gentle that getting art done barely hurts. Working with her was such a joy. She calmed any anxiety I had about the process by meeting for a consultation to talk about what I wanted, messaging to ask clarifying questions, and then giving the option to come see the art before the day of the tattoo. Between all the great communication I knew the work was going to turn out amazing and it did. I can't recommend Rebecca highly enough! Especially if you are looking for watercolor work or are a tattoo beginner who needs a little more reassurance and help with the process. She's an awesome human and artist so go get some pretty things poked into your skin by her!

I loooove my gorgeous ankle tattoo by Bex! She was so quick and deft, I was barely bothered by the needle. I love the watercolor effect, so it did not look like a green blob. She also designed it herself, originally as a logo for my business. Bex is an incredibly talented artist all-around. If anyone is going to permanently ink my body...I trust Bex!

I've gotten 2 large tattoos from Rebecca, and they're amazing! In fact, I plan on turning them into a sleeve when I'm able. Rebecca was professional, kind, knowledgeable, and an amazing tattoo artist. She is fast and has a light touch while not compromising the work at all.
She was really clear about what to do for after care, and she does touch ups for free within a reasonable amount of time. I needed a touch up on my first piece with her, which she took care of with no fuss.
She's hands down the best tattoo artist I've had the pleasure of working with.

Bex finished a large tattoo for me that I’d been avoiding finishing because I was uncomfortable returning to the shop I started at. They did an amazing job finishing the tattoo, adapting and blending her style and the colors with the work that was already done, and made me feel 100% comfortable during the process. Her work is amazing and I cannot wait to get something done by her in the future!
Bex does an amazing job with tattoos. She has a light touch, good shading, and crazy straight lines. However, if you have an issue, Bex is not professional. I got a chemical symbol tattoo and after many months noticed it was missing two lines from the original symbol. I contacted Bex, and checked the images I gave her to make sure they were correct, and asked if during our next tattoo we could add the missing lines. Also, she flipped the lettering order when I asked for a different font. But, since she originally did not allow you to see the design until your appointment I didn't notice that an O and H were flipped. I was looking at the tattoo itself, which is partially on me. Bex said she was an artist who doesn't make mistakes, that she was now uncomfortable working with me and wrote highly unprofessional emails until I got upset (originally wasn't, just thought it was kind of funny I didn't realize for months). She also tried to say that she would be keeping my deposit for my next tattoo (even though she cancelled the appointment) because they are all nonrefundable, she caved on that and refunded my deposit. I went in as nice as possible, understanding that she's human and also that the deed was already done, and was even willing to pay for the lettering if I decided to correct it eventually. It was highly unprofessional and uncomfortable, mostly the part about her never making mistakes because she's an artist.
