Jelly’s Surly Skull : a Private Studio

Jelly does decent work but fails miserably in her ability to work with customers. I've tipped her for both tattoos, sent my friends to her and treated her with nothing but patience and respect. ONLY, for her to treat me with absolute contempt when I walked in for my 3rd consultation. She claims its a private studio but shows no grace or loyalty to her returning customers. Her consultation system is also VERY flawed and difficult to schedule if you work a normal day job. Her inconsistent yet strong devotion at times to her policies makes for an unpleasant experience. Response: Your eradic reply only further proves my point that you are unstable and fluctuate when to enforce your precious policies. For 2 tattoos i have paid you in full with a nice tip might I add. My second tattoo you voluntarily waived the deposit, so for my third I assumed the deposit was only for first time clients. When you told me this was not the case, I asked for 5 minutes of grace to walk across the street to the ATM and that wasn't good enough.. You wanted me to schedule another consultation slot which is very difficult for anyone who works a normal job to make. Learn to have loyalty towards your returning clients.

Even though my body and mental health may have made it difficult for me to go through with my tattoo process, she did a very good job of giving me what I wanted. She made sure I was 100% okay before continuing my tattoo. She made my spine tattoo experience a good one. I’m so glad I went to her for this tattoo, as other artists may have not wanted to tattoo me after how difficult it takes to tattoo me 😅. She did amazing on my tattoo and I just want to show her my appreciation.

Jelly is by far the best tattoo artist in San Angelo. She brings something new to this boring West Texas area. She’s got experience from New Orleans and it shows in her work! She has a very light hand and she’s fast. I felt comfortable and safe knowing I was around someone who respectedMe as a customer but mostly as a person. Other tattoo shops can sometimes be really unprofessional especially if you’re a young female. I once had to sit through six hours of My artist cussing and talking to the other tattoo artists while getting cat calls from the other room. Jelly has a private studio and she doesn’t have anyone else other than the customer in her shop while tattooing. She isn’t distracted and focuses on nothing but the tattoo process. She has a grueling prep routine where everything is cleaned and sterilized and prepared so that when she starts tattooing she doesn’t waste time. Aside from being an amazing artist she is just a pretty damn cool person to Spend hours with while getting inked. I highly recommend!

Got my first tattoo at Jelly’s Surly Skull which came out amazing. Through the initial consultation, design, and tattooing Jelly did amazing work. I would recommend her to anyone who wants to go a more unique personal route then a big tattoo shop.

I’ll be going back, and I’ve already made recommendations to several of my inked friends. Jelly and her other artist (I forgot her name…I’m blaming adrenaline) were professional, kind, and accommodating. My design wasn’t big or elaborate, but it was important to me, and Jelly did a fantastic job She also never made me feel like my small tattoo was a waste of time (some of my friends have experienced this with other artists in town). I got exactly the work and experience that I wanted.

Very positive experience. Jelly was professional, prompt and efficient in the work on my tattoo from the first consultation onward. Multiple, friendly reminders were sent before my appointment. I was impressed with how knowledgeable she was on the clinical side of tattoos and how bodies can react. This is a top-notch operation, highly recommended.

I was convinced no one would ever be able to fix/bring my poppy flower to life. I went to Jelly's for a consultation for something different but I asked about this tattoo anyway and when she showed me what she had in mind, I asked how soon I could get in. I'm beyond thrilled with how it turned out and am so excited my poppy now looks like a poppy. She stays busy but it was worth the wait for my appointment!

Jelly did a tat on my hip a couple day's ago. I greatly underestimated the pain of this placement. I was jumping and yelling and had to take breaks often. Despite me making it difficult, Jelly did a remarkable custom piece that is every bit as good as the $2,500 I have on my sleeve. I'm not going to anymore big cities and paying ridiculous prices. I'll go to Surly Skull from now on.
