The Hive SLC Tattoo & Aftercare

Had a great experience here, I saw Nate and his work is amazing! I love the new addition 🖤 all of the artists here seem amazingly talented!

I had a tattoo on my side I wasn't super happy with so I contacted The Hive to see if they could turn it into something I love and Mason did not disappoint!! It looks a million times better and I'm extremely happy with it. The whole consultation process had me feeling very comfortable and at ease with the new design and Mason is friendly and knowledgeable. I'm super glad I found them and wouldn't want to go anywhere else in the future!

Mason worked with me to come up with a tattoo design I was excited for. He expressed his own excitement about being able to do the tattooing, and it was overall a great experience with the Hive.

I had a wonderful experience with The Hive SLC. Communication was excellent and easy to set up appointment’s and consultations through their website. The artist I am working with, Mason is owner operator and artist. He truly cares about the integrity of his work and the satisfaction of the customer. During our consultation I showed him a few screen shots and vague ideas that he somehow was able to read between the lines and ask the right questions to form it all into a beautiful original piece that I’m so in love with. The Hive SLC also has a very clean and inviting atmosphere with great decor and good music. I even had a heated tattoo table! I didn’t have a chance to speak with any of the other artists, but you could tell from the banter and smiles that they were happy to be there as well! Have you ever been in a tattoo shop and it feels as if you’re a burden and there are three dingy grumpy artists staring back at you. That’s not the case at The Hive SLC! Highly recommend 10/10. Will be getting work done here in the future. And will post a photo of my piece in the review once it is complete.

Amazing shop. Mason is a total pro and doing a lot of cool things for his community. Definitely check them out for big pieces. Be prepared to be challenged. I got a better piece that I could have ever imagined and would definitely come back

There are not enough adjectives in the dictionary to describe the magic that is Mason. I essentially commissioned a piece of art from him, the whole process start to finish was professional, fun, and calming, from the consultations where we met multiple times, through the tattoo-ing process. I like his candidness during our consultations, always explaining why he won't tattoo a certain way (which I appreciated because he has his clients best interests at heart). After every session I left feeling excited for the next round and in awe of the talented artist that was painting my skin. The depth of color and shading, the free hand work that he added into the piece makes it truly one of a kind and custom artwork. I've gotten to know and see the other tattoo artists that work at the Hive and anyone who goes to them will be in good hands, the level of talent that is working there is truly something to behold and they all have something unique to offer.

When I went into this shop I was very excited to get a tattoo but afterwards I feel like I was scammed. After I told that artist what I wanted he suggest that I hold my idea off and do as he wanted which I was fine with. The tattoo only took 30 minutes and I was forced to pay $550 for a 30 minute tattoo. I was not reimbursed or allowed to come in for my remaining time. You live and learn and I definitely won’t be back or would recommend this tattoo shop to anyone.

I'm very impressed with Mason and his shop. The entire process has been great. I have an older tattoo on my right shoulder down that I wanted to continue and finish my right arm sleeve. After consultation, it was clear that Mason was the right choice for me because I wanted a bright and colorful Japanese style piece to tie into the Japanese style I already have, the thing is I just didn't know it yet and to be honest I was very unsure about what to put there to finish it. I wanted it to be bright and bold, just like I am, and he sold me with his enthusiasm and general knowledge of art. His creative process was very assuring. He really knew how it would tie together best and free-handed it onto my arm with marker. I have an awesome red dragon on my arm that I am so happy with! It looks so great! I have been twice now, will have two more sits likely to finish this piece and will definitely continue to go to The Hive until I'm blasted to my liking. Will update review with finished sleeve... All of their artists that I've seen are talented as well, w/ different styles. Super cool people, super chill vibe, I would strongly recommend you check this place out. Fantastic music in the shop too.

Michael and the Staff at The Hive were super nice and professional! I wanted a tattoo to commemorate my recent travels and they fit me in a tight schedule. Michael did a great job combining my ideas into a beautiful piece. Thanks again for everything!!

The Hive SLC fit me in their busy schedule pretty much last minute while on vacation in Utah. While I knew it would be a long shot in getting an appointment, I appreciate the effort for Mason to squeeze me in the schedule. I was referred to The Hive by a friend and this shops’ vibe and customer service was some of the best I’ve seen. Thanks again Mason for fitting me in and giving me the ultimate experience! Would recommend this shop to anyone in the area and hopefully will be back for more work!

I now have gotten 3 tattoos from Nate. The coolest art from the coolest guy. So lucky to get to collect from someone so talented. I will continue to book appointments with him. Additionally, the shop is awesome and they have a parking lot which pretty much makes it a luxury shop.

Trent did an amazing job with my first tattoo. Over a year later and I still get comments about how precise and clean the line work is. Cannot recommend this shop enough, especially for fellow queer people!

After following the Hive on social media for a while, I can say that they blew every expectation I had out of the water. All the artists were kind and professional, the studio is clean and most importantly, my tattoo is beautiful! Mason took the time to make it his own, while also giving me what I asked for. Great shop. Great people. Great experience. I was tattooed by Mason. He came up with a super unique design that truly captures my personality and what I was looking for, based only on my limited and uninformed input. He's a true artist and master tattooer. The atmosphere throught the process was relaxed, pleasant and just enjoyable. Can't recommend this place enough.

The hive has a great vibe and is really chill. From the second I walked in for my consultation with Mason I felt welcomed and really good vibes. Mason and his team create a fun atmosphere as a shop. Mason's work is top notch and his line work is some of the best I have seen. Highly recommend The Hive for your next tattoos. I will be back for more.

This place is AMAZING! My wife got the most amazing piece done here by Kayla. Everyone was super sweet and the building itself was well kept and clean!

I cannot say enough good things about The Hive and ALL of The Hive artists! First off, the vibe of the shop feels very inclusive of different styles with a focus on making rad, diverse art that represented my style and the artist's work. The pieces I have seen created here blow my mind. I'm beyond stoked on how my tattoo turned out. It was a really supportive experience with great communication and care taken to bring a piece of art to life. Having not been tattooed in about 6 yrs, I was little nervous about creating an original piece that represented what I was looking for AND whether or not I could hang with the discomfort of a 12 hr tattoo. My tattoo turned out beautifully and 12 hrs (separate sessions) flew by, so much so that I already scheduled my next project! So, I guess I'll add one negative, in that, this place makes getting tattooed addictive ;) Thanks!!
