Alter Ego Tattoo & Piercing

This is absolutely the best tattoo shop in Knoxville and surrounding areas...I've gotten work done in other states and this place is by far the best. EVERYONE is awesome and they seem to enjoy their work because it shows in the finished product. The owner is nice and helpful as well. I got my work done by Hilde Hernandez....I can't say enough good things about these people and their skill. I will never go to another so again as long as they're open. I don't care if I have to drive across country. Very clean and professional people and environment, but still stays true to tattoo culture and heritage...I would recommend this to you AND your unborn child. 10/5 stars

Got my face dermal today and the whole experience was perfect! The shop was extraordinary clean, all the staff was so nice and polite! She explained every step of the piercing and made me feel comfortable. She was so gentle, it didn't hurt at all! Would highly recommend this shop to anyone! I will forever be a loyal customer!

If you are looking for a shop for a tattoo then STOP looking now, because you found it! Check out all the artists work on Instagram because you won’t believe the detail, care, and ability these people have! You will not be disappointed!! Daniel was so calm and sweet helping me with my first tattoo. He gave my Vision the most amazing touches and killed it! If I ever get enough courage to get another, I won’t go anywhere else. P.S. my husband had work by Jamie and he killed it also! Everyone there was on point! Do not miss the opportunity to visit this shop!

The piercer is the best I've ever had and I've got over 30 , I've also had a tattoo done there by Jamie who I took a drawing in to and he did it exactly as it was drawn. Definitely recommend them!!!

Dawn did my angel bites and nostrils. She's amazing and by far the best piercer in the area. I've gone to 4 different piercers and she's always the best.

I recently got my nose pierced by Dawn at Alter Ego, and she was fantastic. I have had multiple piercings prior to this one, but this was the best experience I’ve ever had. She was beyond kind, and made sure to put any worry I had at ease. Besides being sweet and personable, she was also considerate and made sure it was placed where I wanted, while making sure it was also placed in the safest place for healing purposes. If I decide to get any other piercings, she will be my only choice. Highly recommend. & my nose is healing perfect and looks incredible! :)

I went to Alter Ego for my very first tattoo (this review may be helpful for you if you’re a “virgin canvas). Since it was my first, I definitely wanted it to be perfect... with that being said—I would highly suggest for you to walk in and/or check their instagram portfolio and TALK with them. My tattoo artist Jamie was so much fun to work with, he calmed me and my idea down and ultimately it worked out for the very best (because it was A LOT). The staff overall is very friendly and the vibes are definitely a match. These artists are talented, so definitely make sure you do your research. It helps to listen to them too. I am so very satisfied with it! I really wish I can show you! (i guess you can but I cant seem to find the upload picture option 😅).

I hardly ever write reviews but had to after my visit at the “new” Alter Ego. I came to Alter Ego after directly leaving another shop down the road. I went to the previous shop to get jewelry changed in a piercing that they had done a few months back but that has irritated me ever since. At the previous shop I go the jewelry changed (had no clue what jewelry they were putting in) & hated the new jewelry! The customer service at the previous place was a nightmare & when I asked why this piece was put in I was told “it was all they had…” I left & googled another place close to me & thank God Alter Ego came up! I walked in & though they were busy they still were friendly, greeted me, asked me what I needed & one of the owners (I later found out) helped me look at 10+ different pieces & gave me info I had never heard that was helpful & helped make sense as to why my piercing was hurting so bad to begin with. The place looked spotless & well kept. The staff are so friendly & aren’t pushy or rushy. I am making an appt soon for my next appointment for a tattoo. Don’t walk but RUN to Alter Ego!

I got my first oral piercing here the other day. I was so nervous and such a clutz when I got to the back. Dawn was so nice, and made me feel so
comfortable with where I was. Definitely recommend this place to anyone. I loved it so much i’m going to be booking an appointment for a tattoo. Everyone in the shop were so welcoming and so kind. Really good people.

I had an amazing experience with Dawn. She was super polite, professional, honest, and made me feel like I was in good hands!! I would definitely recommend getting any piercing from her!
