Bobby was awesome! He is very light handed I hardly felt that I was getting a tattoo! My best friend got a tattoo on his face and head and it was virtually pain free! Great line work and they were very personable! Next tattoo I get I’ll be driving the 4 hours to Memphis just to hit up Bobby! Oh and the prices were great!!

As I contemplated leaving a review, it sits on my heart
that someone should know our experience. Our initial visit to schedule the appointment was great. Upon returning for our appointment at 6:30 pm, it was a completely different experience!
Mike drew an amazing tattoo and my sister and I were excited, but for 3 hours we waited!! Why?! I hoped as the minutes and hours passed the tattoo would be worth it.
...Mike had visitors and others come in to schedule while we patiently waited, but what was absolutely disturbing was his sudden change in his condition and the fact that no one attempted to tell us he was not feeling well to perform the job.
It was 9:30 pm by the time he called us back, at this time I noticed his balance was off, his hands were shaking noticeably, he had slurred speech and his eyes were even rolling in his head. I informed the gentleman up front that we would not continue. I explained what I saw and told him we would like our deposit back. He understood and apologized telling us Mike had a toothache and he took some medicine. So, if you are going to proceed tattooing, anything other than basic pain med is unacceptable, right?! To me that speaks highly of how you feel about customers. Then, he even tried to tell my sister deposits are non refundable.
This was so wrong in so many ways! I should have made the decision sooner, but I am glad to say we avoided a costly mistake! I hope he realized his actions were inappropriate and could have serious consequences. This time the worst thing that happened was our time being wasted. I can only hope no one ever experiences this or worse!
Myth Override
I finally found my artist I’ve been searching for. I walked in to illmatic and this guy polar greeted me. Instantly I knew he was down to earth and funny as hell so I made my appointment and 2 days later I got the best tat I could’ve imagined. But it was so much better then what i expected. I’ll be going back very soon. Thanks polar.

**LONG REVIEW ALERT*** I have wanted a tattoo of my grandmother's last words ever written to me for quite some time, but could never muster enough nerve. This year for my daughter's 19th birthday we decided to come to Memphis for a girls trip!! While here we planned on finally getting the Long awaited tattoos!! I was making lots of excuses to not go, but finally found myself walking through the front door of Illumatic's!!! Polar (Warren) made us feel right at home! The atmosphere is that of Cheers or a babershop! He knew I was nervous and walked me through the whole shop , explaining each process! In the end, I was so proud of myself, and so thankful for the experience!! Not sure how I can justify driving 5 hours to Memphis for Tattoo's , BUT I will definitely be back!!!!

My favorite tattoo shop! My homie, friend, bud, and just all around talented tattoo artist Polarbear who I've been getting tatted since 2001 works there! These guys are super cool super talented! I've had my newphew, niece and daughter get their first tats there!

Great place, cool atmosphere! Entire staff was professional and very cool. They are very knowledgeable and look out for their client best interest so your tattoo will continue to look good in the future....and they play great music.

Walked in to inquire about a tattoo and the artist didn’t even bother to be helpful. Instead just implied it couldn’t be done. Wouldn’t suggest this place to anyone and I’m from out of town.
