Dovetail Tattoo East

I just got my second piece from Catherine, and I cannot recommend her enough. Catherine always makes sure to do a thorough consultation, and is great about making sure the design and placement are perfect before getting started. She is amazing with custom pieces and really does a great job on full color work. I was completely comfortable during the entire tattoo, as the shop is super chill and Catherine is incredibly easy to get along with. Dovetail East is definitely the coolest shop I have ever been to- there is taxidermy and incredible art everywhere. The other artists I interacted with in the shop were also really cool, and everyone there has a unique style that they are very skilled at. I am attaching images of my two tattoos from Catherine which I absolutely love.

Great place...was very informative...seemed like a great place to get some ink... I went in as I am looking for an artist to do some work... Got great vibes from there....is definitely one the top 2 choices...

I came here to be tattooed by Catherine, and had a great experience! Comfortable location, great art and decor, and tattooers that are proud of their work. Multiple artists would stop by to chat with her, and the entire shop has a very calm, friendly atmosphere. If any of these artists appeal to you at all, I would definitely recommend you check them out!

I had my appointment with Thom Rein last week, came from S. A. Super nice and was a great communicator throughout the tattoo. Very clean shop and chill vibes. I'm extremely happy how it came out, and look forward to the next one. Thx Thom🙏

Can't say enough good things about Dove Tail. Professional, personable, talented, variety of artist options, highly skilled and reasonably priced. All the artists are super cool. Deseo is who I've been working with on a very large piece. His artistry, attention to detail and line work is spectacular, plus he does a great job of getting to know his clients. Highly recommend this place.

Came in from the Rio Grande Valley to get my first tattoo by Kira. She made me feel very comfortable and welcomed and I had a very pleasant experience, it being my first tattoo. Her work is absolutely immaculate! The facility is very clean and has a delightful atmosphere. I cannot wait to return for my next tattoo!

This place has great reviews so I was excited. Jacque said she would tattoo me at 830pm- she pushed it til 9 bc she was running late- I arrived at 9pm ready to go- no eta, waited an hr, asked her when she’d be ready… she told me 20 ish more min… maybe. ya not waiting in the lobby while being ignored and not updated on appointment times you are supposed to inform/keep me updated on.

Long /short- if you have all the time in the world great, if you are a normal person who keeps appts and is reasonably flexible - go somewhere else.

So I've been going to dovetail east for over a year now. Hands down my favorite tattoo studio in all of Austin! I love the decor and vibe of the shop. Everyone that works here is super friendly as well. Kira does amazing work and I simply refuse to see any other artist! That being said, I've seen some badass tattoos done from the other very talented artist they have at the shop! They typically stay booked, so do yourself a favor and schedule an appointment in advance! Totally worth it!!

TL;DR Incredible Artist, Incredible Person. Go see Catherine, you won't regret it.

Ever since moving to Austin, Catherine at Dovetail East has been my tattoo artist and for as long as I live here, I don't think that is going to change. Catherine is first and foremost, an incredible artist. I have seen her for four tattoos of various sizes and complexities but I love each and every one of them. She is dedicated to working with her clients to make sure they are happy with their pieces. On a personal level, she is one of the sweetest, kindest people I've ever met and hanging out with her during long sessions is an absolute joy. The Dovetail East shop itself is amazing. The decor is incredible and feels comfy and cozy and I always enjoy being in there.

I got my first tattoo ever at Dovetail East. I couldn't be more happy with the outcome!! First off, the place has very cool vibes, music, and furnishings. Very relaxing atmosphere. Nika was incredibly patient with my questions and took the time to make me feel comfortable and relaxed about the process from start to finish. She brought my design to life with incredible expertise. She has a very light touch and such a steady hand! She is a master of her craft. I left very impressed and will return again if I get another tattoo 👏👏👏⚡💥👍
