Wonderful experience today! In town for a couple of days for work stuff, and stumbled across this fine establishment while looking for a different "close by" tattoo shop on google. Ate some BBQ before attempting to walk to where Google maps told me to go, and I happened to look up and realized I was standing right in front of Dovetail... (Fate?) ... Catherine greeted me and my colleague at the door and asked if we had an appointment. I said "nah, y'all do walk-ins?" She asked what we were thinking about getting done, and then said "let me get my stuff cleaned up and I can help" SWEET!
I got a lil cowboy hat outline on my arm to commemorate my Texas "workcation".
While waiting, I chatted with the friendly staff and patrons. I felt so very welcomed, and at home. Everything was exceptionally clean, professional, and comfortable. I'm very pleased with the results.
I'm so glad that I ran into this tattoo shop, and if I'm ever back in Austin, I will be back. Thanks so much for the experience!

With artists as talented as these ones, you’d think they know not to plagiarize. Just because the person you’re copying is in another state doesn’t make it okay. Unacceptable and completely unprofessional. Completely ripped of Jonathan Love from Denver, Colorado and Ruddel Luca from Europe. Who knows how many other artists they completely copied and without credit. Thrasher’s flash tattoos copy these two artist and who knows how many more. Shame on the shop for allowing this.

Prior to DT, I was told by a "15yr tattoo artist" in Pflugerville that my hand was too small for a side-of-finger tattoo... he just couldn't and wouldn't do it. Gave me a ridiculous price quote on a different body location.
So I Had a consult with Megan Minasi(sp?) @ Dovetail. There, i received a more-than-fair quote as well as an ÜBER talented WOMAN to get the job done! I am *SO* excited to be blessed by this artist!!!

Their new location off of cesar chavez, gave me my first tattoo, just a small triangle on my wrist and its completely blown out. I wanted thin lines and its thicker in some places and there is a ball of ink in one corner. It's going to cost me more to fix it than the tattoo was to begin with. I am incredibly upset that this ruined my first experience with ink.

We are visiting Austin in the last couple of days and were looking to get a tattoo. We found Dovetail and got tattooed by the amazing artist Sando that did an awesome job, even much more than we expected! He (and the crew) were so kind, attented and understanding. We are warmly recommending getting your tattoo at Dovetail. Ask for Sando!!!

Very saddened by the fact that this tattoo shop allows their artists to plagiarize other artists work. Artist “Tarence Newsome” is plagiarizing two artists work and maybe more. Unacceptable and disappointing. If you have to steal somebody else’s designs, you shouldn’t be an artist.
