Mainstay Tattoo

Extremely happy with the work I got today! It was my first traditional tattoo and also I was a walk in. I felt super welcomed in by mando and to be honest am super pleased with the level of professionalism and attentiveness! 10/10 coming back again 😁

I booked an appointment with Corey as a surprise birthday present for my boyfriend! I know I'm an anxious mess and like to have things set and organized and he was consistent with replying to my emails with all my questions in a timely manner. Super helpful, genuine and professional! I totally recommend! He did an amazing job on the tattoo. Def going back!

Emailed Zach and he happened to have an opening the next day. One of the best tattoo shops I have ever been to. Zach did such a killer job and was super fast. Such awesome flash all over the walls, good vibes all around. Definitely going back to finish the rest of my arm up!

Love this place. Zach especially rules and doesn't mess around with quality. Moving away soon but will be seriously debating flying back from time to time to keep coming here.

I called ahead and they had time for a walk in. I got script in typewriting font by Cory and he was AMAZING! Even as a walk in, he took the time to go over the details of the tattoo and best placement for future healing. I've never had an experience like this even as a scheduled client. Thanks so much! First of all, the shop is very welcoming and takes cash only (there’s an ATM)! The staff here are super friendly! I booked Zach for two days. It was a pain in the butt to do too much in just two days since I live super far. I got 7 tattoos done and was in a lot of pain for hours. I did not think I’ll be getting a coverup that day either. The outcome of the coverup turned out great! I felt relieved when it was all over with. 😭 Zach did an amazing job! 👍🏼 Would recommend anyone to get tattooed by him. I really want to get tattooed by the others who work here as well when I get the chance to come back again. I would recommend those who are new to the shop to get tattooed by any artist here, because they are all talented! You’ll for sure see me back again in the future! 😄

I got my first tattoo here, and then my next six. In fact, I haven't been to anyone else except Zach Nelligan.

I went in during the east austin studio tour a few years ago, and saw some of his stuff and decided he was the best for what I wanted. Which was lots of color, and very bright. His card reads "brightest colors" and its true. I have a fancy lady with a red background, and you won't believe how bright it stayed.

He's freaking fast!! So don't worry about the hourly so much.

The shop is sharp. Its clean, great art and colors, and the people are always nice. Which is important if you're gonna be there getting poked for a few hours. I've also perused the work of the other artists in store, and feel that anyone one of them would make a fine artist. I'm fighting the urge to see if they are doing christmas tattoos again...!

Cory took me as a walk-in and my entire experience was amazing from start to finish! The piece he designed was exactly what I wanted, he was easy to hang out with for a few hours, the shop was clean and covered in amazing original art from the artists. I will definitely be going back!

Hear me out before you go judging me for leaving a low star rating.

The artists are amazing and the work is excellent. I saw some pieces that I really would love to get.

However, I am not going back because I was overcharged for the tattoo. It was a very simple tattoo, less than six inches big. The artist knew it was my first tattoo and knew that I didn't know anything about pricing. After I got the tattoo most other people I talked to, including other artists, agreed that I was wayyyy overcharged. In fact, somebody who has the exact same tattoo, in the exact same place, told me he was charged less than half the price I received mine at. I understand that this is a traditional tattoo parlor and prices may differ from other shops. But, that is no excuse for the price I was charged. I will admit that it was a walk in but I called ahead and I was there for less than an hour.

I would like to reiterate that it's a great shop, with a great atmosphere and the hospitality is amazing. But I will not be going back simply because I was overcharged and that loses my trust in the shop.

It was my first time getting a tattoo and Corey was great with me. He keep asking if I was good and making sure that it wasn't to bad on me. He did a beautiful tattoo and would recommend anyone to go to these guys.
