Moon Tattoo

Great space to receive my first tattoo. Super chill vibe in the studio with cool stuff to look at (e.g. plants and art!). David Poe pieced together my tattoo idea really well, and I loved how many details he incorporated. There's a lot of other unique artists at the studio, too. Best to follow on Instagram to keep tabs on the appointment windows.

This was my 16th tattoo and 1st tattoo at Moon. I've gotten work done at shops in multiple cities including Austin, Portland, Houston, Nashville, San Marcos, etc. The work done by Tina Poe at Moon Tattoo in Austin is by far the best. Truly a great artist. Wonderful experience. The tattoo I got here is far and away my favorite. Highly recommend.

I was tattooed by Ella and I'm over the moon with the results! Ella is such a talented artist, is easy to communicate with, and a joy to be around for a few hours. They made sure I was comfortable and happy with the design before we started, and did an excellent job of making our time together a fun experience. The studio felt super COVID safe which I also appreciated. 10/10, can't wait to be back!

I am a very indecisive person, thus the reason it took me 35 years before I got my first tattoo. I have followed Tina Poe on Instagram for a while and I absolutely admire her work. I am so happy that I decided to get my first (and second) tattoo with Tina. She made the process of scheduling and discussing the tattoo very smooth ,collaborative and seamless. I have never felt so comfortable with someone I hadn't met before as I did with Tina. I was a little nervous upon arrival but that feeling immediately depleted once I met her. Her energy is very calming , accepting and positive. The tattoo studio is very clean and full of beautiful artwork. I now follow each of the artists that work at Moon on Instagram and I think that they all do stunning work. I can't wait to go back for my next tattoo!

I visited Moon Tattoo a few days ago and got my first tattoo ever by artist David Poe. I can't say enough how happy I am with the finished product! The environment and staff were very relaxed and pleasant which made my first tattoo experience the best it could be and put me at ease. All of the artist at this shop are very talented. I will definitely be getting more work done here and am already planning my next piece.

I don't know why I waited so long to make a review.

For months, almost a year, I searched and searched for a tattoo artist/shop in the Austin area when I stumbled upon this quaint little shop on IG. Being that I had never gotten a tattoo before I was both nervous and excited to get a piece of artwork permanently inked onto my body.

Their Instagram page does a wonderful job presenting the different artists' work. There you can click the direct link to their official website where you can read up further on each artists' style of work allowing you to pick the right fit for you. For me, that was Mr David Poe.

His method of scheduling was super easy to follow with very precise instructions; books open up once a month with limited slots for a consult - you get reminded of his next scheduling if you follow him or Moon Tattoo on IG. After two months of attempted scheduling (he is in high demand these days haha) I was finally able to book a consult!

When it came time for the consult David was brief, a great listener, and reassuring. I was even able to email him pictures and more in-detail notes on what I envisioned for my tattoo outside of the phone consult. I trusted him completely.

Once it came down to tattoo day I was stoked. He explained the entire process thoroughly and answered all of my questions. The whole vibe at the studio was calm and comforting - I even managed to shut my eyes towards the last hour of my session. After the tattoo was finished we took some pictures and I was able to reschedule my next session with David to add to my sleeve!

Moon Tattoo made sure to email plenty of instructions up to the date of the tattoo. They were/are very safe in regards to following covid precautions: masks are worn at all times, sanitizer is readily available, the shop doesn't have more than a few people in at a time, and the stations are spaced out well enough to follow social distancing guidelines.

Speaking of, I had to cancel my second session due to recent exposure to Covid at my place of work. David was super understanding and he had no problem what so ever rescheduling.

SUMMARY: friendly, comforting, informative, accommodating, clear instructions, easy to contact, easy to locate, exceptional art, very talented artists.

I received my first tattoo at Moon Tattoo and I am so pleased! Tina and David's professionalism is impressive. The studio is in a great location; very clean and inviting. David's attention to detail and artistry is exactly what you want when you get your first tattoo. I fell in love with his work because of how precise he is with his line. I can't imagine now getting a tattoo from anyone else! I look forward to getting another one of his custom works of art again soon.

This studio was so cool! I love the environment and because they’re taking covid safety very seriously I felt very safe. Everyone is required to wear a mask and no one is allowed to take it off in the studio. If you’re looking for an artist, I definitely recommend Ella (@tinyloophole). They’re super nice and friendly and so artistically creative I can’t wait to go back!

Just got a tattoo done here by Sabrina and it was a wonderful experience! Everything was clean and the employees were very kind. Very skilled artists that you can tell care about their work and their customers. I will definitely be going back here to get some more tattoos.

This was my first tattoo with Moon Tattoo/David Poe and also my first large scale one at that! I liked David's booking consultation process and how he opens up his books once a month on a certain time and day. I feel like this is beneficial in that there are no long waiting periods to see him, as you'll get tattooed the following month, and gives everyone a fair chance at getting to work with him. There were *some* delays in the books opening up and the system itself is bit wonky. You can select a time, but if you don't fill everything fast enough, someone else who also selected your time slot, can claim it.....even though it says the spot is being "held" for you for a short period of time.

We had an over the phone consultation (due to COVID precautions) and he was brief, polite, thorough. I had an idea in mind and sent over references but, to be honest, I completely trusted whatever he would come up with as all his artwork is truly unique and innovative. He is so talented!

I got plenty of emailed directions on the whole new COVID process and everything is very easy to find on their website (kudos to the intuitive navigation and helpful information). I showed up prepared and v e r y excited on the actual tattoo day and everything went smoothly. I LOVED my design and he took a lot of effort and care to make sure it looked *exactly* how I wanted - both for my and his standards! He also mentioned to let him know if I have any issues after it heals and would like a touch-up. I appreciated that, as not all artists are that accommodating or patient.

David has a relaxing demeanor and we had some easy convo towards the beginning and end of the session, as he was razor focused in the meantime. He is also a crazy fast tattooer and I was pleasantly surprised when it was all over.

The shop itself is very clean, minimal, plant-filled (more kudos!!), and just has a comfortable air about it. Everyone there is so pleasant and seem to get along very well- immediately felt welcome and at home. I can't wait to come back!
