Vice and Virtue Tattoo

I have been following Nathan Instagram page for a while now and have been debating getting a sleeve for the past 3 years. Saw some of his work and it was awesome, so I decided to reach out to see what the process looks like to have him be my artist. At that time this dude literally had a waiting list for over a year. I guess that is a good sign and that I am picking the right person. I decided to put the deposit and jump on the waiting list. Finally, after a year he is able to get me in. Not going to lie I was nervous and had second doubts but man seeing his work I knew it was going to be awesome, so I went for it. Nathan is one of the most down to earth dudes you will ever meet and can carry a great conversation even for an all-day session. He is like and open book and will share a lot of good stories with you. Not only am I very impressed with his work but also how he got into the industry. If you want to know book him. It is his story to tell not mine. Back to my tattoo. After 2 sessions and halfway done it looks AMAZING. I have received so many compliments and the crazy thing is that it is not completed yet as I have to let it heal first before coming back in to get the rest of it done. I highly recommend Nathan and his crew at Vice and Virtue Tattoo. They really do go the extra mile to make sure that you are in love with what you are getting. They also consult you on their thoughts and opinion as they are the expert which I appreciate.

I have been tattooed by both Nate and Paolo, and both were incredibly professional and one-of-a-kind. The shop is clean and relaxed. Nate and Paolo will take their time planning your design. The way they use photoshop to plan out your concept is phenomenal. Pricing is absolutely fair given how much time they are investing into giving you the best experience. Their aftercare instructions have led to both pieces of mine healing extremely well- no scabbing, bruising, etc. To summarize: any tattoo that you get done at Vice and Virtue will be top quality.

Nate- one of the best black and grey artists you will ever come across. I waited 14 months for my first appointment with him, and it was absolutely worth it. His creativity goes unmatched. I spent a lot of time researching for the best artist to do my first tattoo (my chestpiece)- he was extremely patient working with me despite how busy his schedule is. I’m forever grateful that he took the time to work with me and make my first experience smooth. We got a lot accomplished in just one session - very efficient. I’m very impressed with his shading skills. I saw Nate when he was at Black Mass, and then he pursued his dream of opening up his own shop, Vice and Virtue.

Paolo- grab him while you can. His schedule is flexible, as he is new to Vice and Virtue, but I am sure he will keep filling up fast. Nate picked Paolo up knowing that he is going to be the next big name. He discovered painting before tattooing, which really gives him a unique touch. His line detailing is incredible - used a single needle for my shoulder blade/tricep piece, which takes more time for him, but leads to fine detailing that clearly shows. I found out when I arrived that he worked for me all-day on his birthday, a Saturday - that alone says a lot about his character and the sacrifices he’s willing to make for his clients. At just 29 years old he’s got an incredible future ahead of him.

Awesome shop - I had Alex do my tattoo who was super friendly and did an awesome job! The consultation was great before, he made sure I got exactly what I wanted and was gracious in the changes I wanted to make. Really happy with how it turned out and I will definitely going back for my next project!

My dad and I got matching tattoos done by Alex and it was a great experience! He did a wonderful job and we had a great time talking with him during our session. Definitely recommend this studio and Alex.

I got my first tattoo with Hjalmar at Vice and Virtue. The entire experience was enjoyable. The shop was clean, the artist was more than willing to spend the extra time going over details of the process and through the aftercare. I never felt like I was being rushed along.

I just completed 4 sessions with Paolo Grippo on my leg. Vice and Virtue is by far the most professional and personable tattoo shop I've encountered in my time working with industry artists. All of the guys running the shop - Nate, Paolo, Alex, Claymore and Mingo are very kind people who are incredibly talented at their jobs. They are friendly, easy to get along with and very collaborative when it comes to converting conceptual design into reality.

Paolo was my artist of choice for this project, and his attention to fine line work, symmetry, shading, texture and detail is truly unparalleled. He is a master at his craft with a background in all art mediums from painting to drawing to ceramic works etc. If anyone in the state of Texas was to inquire on where to get their next piece, I would refer them to Vice & Virtue immediately. I could not recommend working with them enough. Whether you are looking to do something small and intimate or something large and intricate, Paolo and the team at Vice and Virtue have you covered.

PS: if I could add a 6th star, I would. They truly are that talented.

Super clean and professional shop

Believe the hype! Vice and Virtue is professional, clean, friendly, and an overall great environment to get tattooed. A few days ago I got my first ink ever. I picked the right shop and the right artist! Paolo is professional, clean, organized, humble; a real pleasure to work with. He is also incredibly skilled and detail-oriented. I gave him a few ideas for my sleeve and let him do his thing. I'm in love with the design and incredible detail. The tattoo feels like something that was missing and meant to be a part of me. The man has only been tattooing for 4 years, but look at his work! Paolo has a foundation in oil painting, which gives his pieces a unique touch. He's making a name for himself and I have no doubt he will soon be recognized as one of Austin's best. I will hold on sharing the image because I have an appointment in a few weeks to add more.
