Ethan Franklin was the artist that gave me my tattoo. This was my first time ever doing this and I have to say Ethan did a great job with making the process simple and easy for me. Ethan provided great hospitality and made my experience an excellent one. Definitely recommended, they do walk ins only so you will need to go in person to schedule an appointment.

I came in with a vision and design I wanted and they made it happen. I had Ethan do my tattoo and he did a great job! He is creative and outgoing. I would use him again for other tattoos. The building was clean and the staff was welcoming.

I last minute decided I wanted to go get a tattoo at 7 o’clock in the evening. On such short notice, Ethan agreed to do my tattoo and he did an amazing job! The only thing is they take cash only which I did not know until after I got the tattoo. Luckily my friends were carrying cash on them. Other than that small inconvenience, it was an overall great experience. I am completely in LOVE with my new ink!

While I have no harsh feelings toward the artists of James River tattoos I feel I should inform any potential customers of my experience. My wife and I received small heart shape outline tattoos. Very simple designs in easy locations. My tattoo was blown out (meaning the needle was pressed in too hard and the ink dispersed into the dermis layer) and my wife’s line work was so messed up that one side of the heart has a line jetting off of the design due to the shaking of the artists hands. Both my wife and I would not recommend this shop to anyone.
