Star City Tattoos

By FAR the greatest tattoo experience I’ve ever had! I was ecstatic to come across Roger’s repertoire in Roanoke. Roger is prompt, had great communication, a phenomenal artist, and incredibly enjoyable to collaborate with. My tattoo with him even healed better than all my other tattoos by other artists. I’m grateful to have such talent in our city!

I went in to give a idea on a tattoo and there wasnt enough time for it. But I had enough time to get a cover I had one messed up rose on my elbow from the past. Well Kaitlyn done a amazing job so friendly. And nice and she free style it added some more to it. I got to say I'm very impressed and very happy. And I've gotten a few tattoos before and I got to say this I had artist with heavy hands just feel like that be rough with you. I've had artist be heavy handed then light handed. And hers kept the same pace the whole time that says alot about a artist. And I recommend everyone to her I give her 5 stars and I will go back.

Roger is good but not worth the hassle. He's difficult to get in touch with, slow to respond, does not treat loyal customers well, and, honestly, unprofessional.

I had been going to him for years and brought my most recent idea to him and told me he wasn't "feeling it," and to look for someone else to do it. He said he was bored of it and would pass. So now I have to find someone else to finish what he started, hopefully I can find someone whose work is both good and matches what is already there, because he got bored. Don't let yourself get stuck in my position.

He's temperamental and unprofessional. There's other good artists out there that are easier to work with and it's not worth the hassle of dealing with his ego.

This was such a great experience!! Kaitlyn and Roger were so nice and fun to talk to, and the tattooing process was so comfortable and safe. Kaitlyn gave me a beautiful beautiful bee, and I will definitely be coming back!!

Josh Kiser (Instagram @most.ghost) at Star City Tattoos is the the most professional and creative tattoo artist I have met in Roanoke in a very long time. He's a SUPER nice guy and a pleasure to talk to. Everyone at Star City are top class. Everyone are great artist and the office and equipment has a great vibe. Very clean and comfortable.

Dusty is a phenomenal artist. This is the second time that I’ve had work done by her and I am very pleased. She is very personable and is attentive to what you’d like to see in your artwork. I highly recommend dusty and star city tattoo. I will be going back again!

Roger gave me a tattoo not long ago. I highly recommend him. I showed him all of the elements I wanted in my tattoo and he went above and beyond when I had even imagined. He got back to me quickly with a design and was a treat to have! He told me such interesting stores behind some of the most amazing art he has on his studio walls and is super easy to get along with. He has such amazing pieces still up for grabs. If you have no idea what you want I'd suggest going in and looking at what he has available!I would definitely have him do more work for me.

My experience, unfortunately, was very unfavorable. It took several attempts to even talk to someone at the shop, and after days of unanswered messages I called for the 50th time and someone answered. This girl had zero personality and even less customers service. She was not helpful at all in providing me a way to get in touch with the artist I was interested in - so I knew I was back to being on my own. More days go by and miraculously the guy, Roger, I was hoping to consult with just answered my Instagram message! All hopes and wishes to work with this guy were ruined when he started insulting me within the first 60 seconds of exchange. He was arrogant and unkind - and he's never met me. Of course all of this made me SO grateful I never actually went under the needle with this dude. It goes to show you that they can teach art in art class, but they can't teach human relations and customer service. You either have that instilled or you don't. Too many other great options in this world to be treated this way when I'm spending my money and putting something permanent on my body. No thanks. I wouldn't drop one dollar in this business.

My friend and I did a walk-in with Dusty. We were super stoked about our tattoos, until they finished healing. Now let me say, I know finger tattoos are hard to keep. The top of my finger is dark and the bottom is almost non existent. The lines on my friends tattoo are not even, some are thicker than others and some lines barely touch. These tattoos are not even a month old. We live 5 hours from the tattoo shop so we can’t even get them fixed. When I asked Dusty about them, she admitted she was having an “off” day. If I would have known that, I would not have gotten tattooed by her. Now we have to put more money into these tattoos because our artist had an off day. So very disappointed at the work and professionalism at this shop.

Roger is very serious about his work and dude should be he’s awesome at what he does! He’s very honest with you on what he thinks and will give you an awesome piece of artwork!
