I got my first big piece from Roger, he was kind to me and very professional, his art is amazing and he worked well with my ideas, I’m very appreciative of his art and would rate my experience with a million stars but sadly I can only put 5 stars. Definitely the best artist I’ve ever had the luck of meeting and getting tatted by. 100% would recommend to anyone. He works at a good pace and made sure I was comfortable through out the process, extremely pleased with my experience and I can’t wait to get more work done from him. If you’re thinking about getting roger to tattoo you, just do it! He’s the bomb.

His ability to take a client's idea and put it on your skin in a way that works and still captures your idea and the story or meaning behind your idea for a tattoo is incredible. Hands down the absolute best artist I have ever had the pleasure of working with! He has done two fantastic Cover up pieces that were previously done by local artist and transformed them into amazing tattoos. Roger is prompt, he listens and spends a lot of time putting what you want into his sketches. His artwork is phenomenal, his lines are clean and he gives you a tattoo like no other in the area. If you're looking for a top notch shop, a clean environment and a bad ass tattoo, make sure you ask for Roger.

Roger, the owner of this establishment is the best tattoo artist within 1,000 miles of here. You will not be disappointed if you choose to get your next tattoo here everyone here is very qualified but if you want the best get on the waiting list for Roger.

My experience at star city tattoo was nothing less than Five stars. The atmosphere in the shop was so welcoming and fun. I immediately felt that the people there do what they do because they love it . If you are looking for a custom tattoo and a artist with a unique creative edge and decades of experience... Roger is definitely the person you're looking for. I waited years to find an artist that had that something special kind of talent. Roger did not disappoint !! Thank you .

I was down near Roanoke for a business trip and decided to hit up Josh to get a tattoo to add to my leg, as I get a tattoo for every state I visit. Josh was great and helpful from the beginning, shop was as clean as a doctors office(which is what you want from a shop) new needles and ink and plastic bottles were used. Josh made sure to change gloves if he had to grab something else and all equipment was wrapped in new plastic. 100% sterile environment which is what you want for a tattoo. I told josh I wanted a lobster claw and gave him The freedom to sketch it how he wanted, if you choose a artist you have to have some trust in them and give them freedom to express their artistic views they know what looks best and will flow on your skin and in certain areas. Your body has curves and things have to flow with them or your tattoo will look horrible, some people take offense to that but I’d rather a artist tell me if a tattoo won’t look good in that area or with a design because it’ll be on my body FOREVER. Out of all the shops down that way I researched they had the best artist with the quickest responses and to me had true professional custom designs, a lot of other shops cater to walk ins and are very plain with the tattoo designs. If you want a full 100% custom tattoo that no one else has with your own twist then this is your shop. But, remember good work isn’t cheap and cheap work isn’t good, even though to me their prices were cheaper than other shops I’ve been to nationwide but the quality of work was on par or better. I had a great tattoo from Josh but Roger and Kaitlyn are awesome artist also.

This place was great. I got my first tattoo here recently and Kaitlyn knocked it out of the park! She got it exactly how i wanted it to a tee. The place is also super clean, both Kaitlyn and Roger are friendly and great. It is a little pricey, but that's the price for A+ work. I highly recommend this place, and if i get a tattoo in the future, this is the only place I would go.

Recently started a sleeve with Roger. By far the best experience I've ever had getting ink (and this will be my 8th tattoo.) Several of my other tattoos were from other Roanoke shops and I now regret not going to Roger first. I want an artist first and a tattooist second, and Roger is the best in Roanoke on both accounts. Highly recommended.

Was introduced to this guy’s work through a couple friends via Instagram. I thought it was incredible, and artful work. So I reach out to him with compliments on his work and ask him how to get the process started, as I have never had a tattoo before. Now, I live in Nashville TN, but have recently moved from Cave Spring so going into this I figure it could be logistically difficult. But for my first tattoo I wanted something special, a tribute to my father who died of cancer a couple years ago. I had been researching other places here in TN as well as some in NC and would be willing to travel to make it happen. I just needed the right artist and based in his work I thought I had found him. Wrong. I gave him PRECISELY 5 ideas which is what he said to do, and when I ask if a consultation can be done over the phone he replies that he’s gonna pass because I have so many ideas to try and cram into one piece that he has “zero confidence” that I will “get” what he draws even if he draws exactly what I ask for. I’m no business major here but I think a good rule of thumb would be to NOT insult prospective clients, in particular those who have chosen to reach out to you for something special and near to their heart. Then the guy blocks me on Instagram. I cannot imagine treating someone who asked me to play a gig for a very special occasion like this guy treated me. I wouldn’t give him a red cent for the best tattoo on earth.

Roger is the man and Katlin is the women. There tattoo's are AWESOME, and,they are just cool to be around. I have a lot of tattoo's, and there good, but, I wish I would have known about Star City Tattoo first. Read the review from the guy talking about his girlfriends tattoo not being that good and the other B.S. All I can say is, stick to something else, because, your not a very good story teller.
