Sacred Ties Tatau

This is by far the ultimate tattoo experience on Maui. There are plenty of shops in the resort areas but they fall short in terms of original designs and work that gets attention from those who know tattoos. Desmond is already a known force in the community and if you’re fortunate enough to have the time you will not be disappointed. This is not an in and out quick experience for intricate, fine line detailed work and you should expect to pay for it. It is worth it. Although the shop sometimes does walk-ins, appointments and deposits are highly recommended. I’ve researched for over 6 months knowing I was coming to Maui and yes, I’m biased now having my work done by Desmond but I couldn’t be happier with my decision. The entire Sacred Ties ‘Ohana is genuine and the entire experience was nothing short of amazing. Thanks Des!

Had a great experience here! I normally don't get black and gray tattoos but was super impressed with the way it came out!

Don't understand the negative reviews here. First of all, good tattoos aren't cheap and cheap tattoos aren't good. You get what you pay for on price. Second, everyone reacts differently to tattoos and it's also dependent on how you take care of it afterwards.

I'll be back in Maui I'm sure, and would love to come back to this shop.

I got my first tattoo today. Desmond did a great job and it hardly hurt. So excited to share his art. I'll never forget my trip on Maui and will come back to have Desmond do another tattoo. Great experience. Mahalo!

Sacred Ties treated me incredibly well when I had my sleeve started there a year and a half ago. I am not a local and I am more than happy to pay more for my incredible piece from Desmond.

I find the negative reviews about healing or prices so uncalled for, that I wanted to show my support by writing something positive.

I could see first hand how well maintained (clean and sanitized) their facilities were. I healed completely fine. This is my 3rd large tattoo piece and it most certainly won’t be my last.

Desmond did my piece freehand. It was scary for me at first but I love his work and put trust in him as an artist. To say I was blown away by the work he did on me is an understatement. I cannot wait to add more to my sleeve. The other artists at Sacred Ties are also incredibly talented. I would not hesitate getting a piece from any of them!!

We will be booking a flight to Maui as soon as the Covid pandemic is over and I will 100% be going back to Sacred Ties Tatau!

Came here for a tattoo with Desmond. I love the work and love that he listened to what I wanted and made changes to the piece while drawing it out to make sure I was satisfied with it.

Booked in for a tattoo when I was visiting Maui. And mind you when I booked, I had not realized they booked me with the wrong artist because there was poor communication from the receptionist, my questions were not being answered about hourly rates either. I had paid the deposit and asked if I could be switched over to an appointment with Desmond and they had confirmed that it was possible and said "you're now booked with Desmond tomorrow at 11" and when I showed up for my appointment I got turned away being told "There's no openings for me, and I can be tattooed the next day by Hano because it's just a Polynesian tattoo" in a disregarding manner. And after asking for my deposit back because I was leaving to go back to Canada the next day, I was told to talk to the receptionist about getting my $100 back and still 2 weeks later have been being ignored. Will be filing a fraud claim with my credit card company as that is exactly what this business has exhibited.

My girlfriend and I got tattoos for our miscarriage, very meaningful to the both of us. Her tattoo healed fine but mine on the other hand did not. You can barely see the date. One number is not even visible and another number is blurred out totally. I came here thinking the artists were good but boy was I wrong! We were there for an hour and thirty minutes max and we were charged $420. I'm never going here again and hope the artists (Hano) gets what he deserves!!!

After researching for months on a Polynesian tattoos and artists, I decided to fly to Maui from Indiana, to get a half sleeve tattoo by Desmond.
What a fantastic work!

Went in for a tattoo had an idea of what I wanted but Desmen made it better than I had envisioned! So happy I trusted Desmen’s vision and artistry! Highly recommend
