"Second Star Tattoo & Body Piercing Studio opened as Skinny Boy Tattoo & Body Piercing Clinic in 2001 at our current location. In 2016, Skinny Boy sold the shop to Brittany. We practice sterile and professional tattoo techniques. Our needles are NEVER reused. We use ONLY sterile water during a tattoo session. Our equipment and surfaces are cleaned with a medical grade germicidal solution or an autoclave, whichever is appropriate. Our artist stations are separated by floor to ceiling walls and have doors or curtains for your privacy. Your safety and comfort are of utmost importance to us!"

I have had my septum pierced for a few months now- not from this particular parlor, as my family and I were visiting for a week and a half, on vacation. I have one of the open barbell pieces- meaning it is secured in my nose by two balls. One of my balls fell out today, and I immediately knew that we would have to handle this ASAP- leaving it out wasn't an option. We found this place after trying another- we arrived at the address listed (silver lake mall) and they had moved, and not updated their google address. We finally get to the Second Star, and I ask the woman working the front about buying a ball. I pulled up the info I received from my original piercing shop, and the woman informed me that they didn’t carry internally threaded. So, we decided to purchase a whole new set of jewelry, which only cost us $5. A very good price, but it seemed as though that was only available option, which concerns me regarding the quality of metal. I also was not informed of the metal grade, which, to be fair, i didn’t ask for, so that ones on me. We pay for the jewelry, and I head back as the piercer puts it in for me. The fee to have jewelry put in if you didn’t get the piercing there was $20, which seems a bit insane as most shops to it for free, but we were in a jam and I knew my best odds of the balls not falling out was for it to be done by a professional. So, we pay our $25, hop in the truck and get home. Not even two hours later, i feel it. One of the balls has fallen from my jewelry. So now, $25 out when I could have probably gotten away with the $5 and making my father and brother do it, as that’s what we ended up having to do in the first place. I’m pretty disappointed in the longevity of the balls ability to stay on, and I’m hoping it will stay in. I really wanted to like this place, and I really hate leaving negative or even mildly critical reviews, but I was a little frustrated today. On the other hand, staff was friendly enough, about what I expect from a piercing place I’ve never been to, and the place was clean and sanitary. So, I would go here, just be aware, ask to piercer to tighten as hard as he can, and be aware of the $20 charge.

Brittany does some if the best work around. Had several other shops tell me they coukd not do a cover up of a old tattoo. Went to Brittany at Second Star Tattoo and she sqid she could do it no problem. Did an amazing job on the cover up tattoo that tou cant even tell its a cover up. Very fair on price and she always does an amazing job with any tattoo she does.

5/5 most definitely, Jason was my artist, he had drawn my piece for my forearm & it turned out even better than the reference photo. Great experience! He even sang some snoop dog!

One of the cleanest shops I have been to. All of them have been "clean", but Second Star went above and beyond safety precautions to maintain a well and thoroughly clean shop. Brit was also fantastic, and super personable!
