Iron Lotus / Cedar Rapids / Iowa City Tattoo

I've gotten 2 tattoos done by Kristin and both are amazing still look beautiful after a year. She was very patient with me when the pain started to kick in she took great care of me and we pushed through 2 decent sized tattoos with very few issues... I was the issue lol nothing to do with her. My pain tolerance isn't the best but she was the best and I can't wait to keep getting more done by her!

I drive an hour and a half from DeWitt to go see Trent at Iron Lotus. There's plenty of good artists in the Quad Cities near me, but I choose to go see Trent because he's great and so talented. He's done four tattoos on me now and I love them all. I can't say enough great things about him!

I went with a friend of mine to get in on the Halloween special, my second time, her first ever tattoo. We had tried going there a few days prior before opening, but unfortunately weren't able to get in, but it does clearly state that it's not a guarantee that you'll get in, as appointments and normal walk-ins take understandable priority. We were the first ones in, and I only waited maybe an hour and a half (my friend was first). When I got there, the machine that prints the stencils wasn't working, so it took a while to fix, but in the meantime, I was chatting with the receptionist, Gish, and didn't even really know how long it took to fix, but again, I was just excited and grateful I was able to get in at all. Trent eventually was able to get it working, and I was delighted to find out that he was going to be doing my tattoos, since the apprentices are usually the ones who do the specials. I knew his work from the tattoo he did on my roommate, so with all of that in mind, though I wasn't annoyed about the mishap with the doodad, it was basically a worth the inconvenience. (Though I do feel bad for how annoying it must've been to deal with.)

The tattoos are still healing, as that was two days ago, but I have full confidence in Trent's technical application and artistry. Will probably always come here for any future tattoo endeavours.

Tldr: Wonderful staff, amazing tattoos, great with customers, super clean shop, would always go back.

Was recommended this place for a tattoo by previous clients but honestly couldn't even make an appointment without being laughed at by the two individuals that were sitting at the front desk. I fully understand giving advice on where a tattoo is wished being placed and looking out for that client especially if it's their first tattoo but at the end of the day it's their body and their choice. Felt very judged!

I hated that I put my name on the piercing list ,waited 2 hours and was told you'll get a call, but never got call they locked the doors. You'd think with assistants in the store, a phone call saying we aren't getting to you would have come. But it didn't and the fact that we had driven in from Waterloo and waited wasn't cool in my book.

I think I've found my "forever piercer." Gish is so cool and so friendly. I just got my other nostril pierced by her, and it was one of the best piercing experiences I've had.
They have a pretty cool way of getting signed in to get pierced (about bloodborne pathogens, medical conditions, etc..). It was very thorough. It's nice to see a shop make sure everything is in order before a piercing.
The shop itself looks very clean and organized. There is artwork by the artists around in books, and it's all very beautiful.
I'll definitely be back the next time I'm ready to be pierced!

Recently went here for my new tattoo. Excellent service, they were very helpful. They laid out all their policies in writing and were happy to answer any questions I had. Morgan did my tattoo, and she is very competent, and a lovely artist. Very sweet person, as well. I also love the clear covering she put on my tattoo after it was done. It's good for 4 days, and it's way better having it than not; even if I accidentally knock it against something, it doesn't hurt nearly as much as if I didn't have it.

I went here on 3 different occasions to look into getting my tattoos started. Each time I was in here, the people were extremely nice, answered all my questions completely. They explained the whole process from start to finish. When I ran some ideas by them, they gave me some very good feedback and alternatives to make sure that I got the best ink and didn't end up with something terrible or that didn't look correct. The owner who was on site, being tattooed by one of his artists, stopped, came over and gave his input when asked for more input. The artist I worked with, Jacob, is super nice, had good communication skills and was very receptive to my input to make sure my ink came out like I wanted it to while still being objective about how it would look when done. I already have my next appt set and plan on having him do my entire sleeve as well as take over the ink work on my back. So far, I would recommend this studio, not only for the ink work but for the professionalism displayed. Plus I think it says something when the owner is getting work done and training and helping customers hands on style. I will continue to update as I get more work done and add more pics too.

Everyone there has amazing talent. I return to Cat every time. She's hilarious, very personable, and has great skill!

The atmosphere is great and they typically have action or comedy movies playing so even if you don't want to chat you can be entertained. But I've gotten 5 of my tattoos from her and she will continue to be my go-to.

I got my ears double pierced yesterday at Iron Lotus The lady was really sweet and kind and made me feel welcomed she did a awesome job this spot is always my goto :)
