Scary Carrie is a dope ass tattooist/artist and the vibe of the shop is amazing! If you are looking for the BEST shop in KC...look no further! Everyone in this shop is a master of their craft and the passion that they have for their art can be seen in their work! I am so glad I chose Champion Tattoo and I will definitely be going back for more!

I was looking to get my ear pierced somewhere near KC. I called and they said come on in..no wait. The people were very friendly and the studio was nice. They explained everything throughout the piercing process and answered all my questions. In addition, I lost the front to my earring the next day so I contacted them about it. They had a new earring in the mail for me within 30 minutes.

Hands down the best work I have ever had done! Adam is an amazing artist and genuinely cares about his work and what he puts out there. It is well worth the wait to get work done at Champion! I will not go anywhere else.

I just got my nose pierced here today. It was a great experience - the man who helped me was kind and professional and the parlor was very clean. I was able to walk right in. I'm planning to get a tattoo in a couple of months and will definitely consider going to them to have that done.

Super Long Review Because Tattoos Are Permanent:

The Champion crew is incredible. Carrie, Adam, and Rick are great artists AND humans. I only had experience with Rick (at his previous shop), so I was a little nervous heading to the new place. Ten minutes into my appointment, however, and I was already in love.

I figure I'll vouch for the shop as a whole first, because for me, artist attitudes and shop vibes are almost as important as ability. Example A: I walked out of another local shop because everything was grey (walls, chairs, floors, etc.) and the artist had a massive ego.

Champion is SUPER clean and welcoming with its rad decorations and squishy couches, and my four hour session was comfortable and fun. Each artist has a personal room that can be closed up tight for privacy (and hey, some people use tattoo artists as therapists so they'll batten down the hatches for that sort of privacy, too), but when the doors and windows are open it creates a really fun atmosphere as the artists and clients talk back and forth. The personalities at this shop are a melting pot of greatness.

My time at Champion is far from over. Not only am I seeing Rick again in the coming weeks to finish the masterpiece (!) on my thigh, but my sister is a convert as well. Her previous work was done at another shop in the area, but she's finally found "The One" in Champion after seeing my tattoos and level of satisfaction.

And listen, the quality of art is evident in the artists' portfolios. These guys have some SERIOUS talent in most every style. The detail work and color jobs are especially outstanding. Not only can they do most anything you're wanting (and do it well), but they take the job seriously enough to tell you no if something is too difficult or ill placed or won't age well or whatever. Rick talked me out of a white ink tattoo and I am forever grateful.

I hate that this sounds like a paid plug, but I really do love Rick's work and Champion as a whole. They've got something special over there. Go check 'em out.

Scary Carrie does amazing work!! Went with my best friend to get work done. She did mine and Rick did my friends. Her tar was equally awsome!! Would definitely go back and recommended them for any tat work.

Carrie is so awesome. I love my new tattoo. Color is so amazing. Would come here again. . Simon did amazing on my nose and belly button piercing. . Highly recommend this shop.

Have not gotten a tattoo here yet, but went in for consult. Adam was extremely helpful and got me booked immediately and am incredibly excited for what the art will turn out to be. Will be posting pictures of his masterpiece when I have it done.

Absolute worst experience with a piercing ever. The gentleman who did my piercing was someone who has done two others on me and botched them all. Why go back to him? Well, I didn’t know he’d be the one working there. He tore my ear when gauging it form a 2 to a 0 at Big Daddy’s Tattoo in the early 2000’s, did a crooked labret piercing on me at another shop off of 435 and Metcal and now the most recent. A nose piercing, which was pierced with jewelry that was too small and caused the piercing to migrate. I had to get the jewelry replaced by a piercer at Aftershock down the road and thankful they seemed to have more knowledge even though they’ve been piercing far less time than him.

I have had over 40 piercings at numerous shops in the KCMO area as well as out of state and his are the only ones I’ve ever had trouble with.

One more thing to note. You are not giving aftercare instructions, which is a standard practice for all piercing professionals.

I will not patreon this shop again and would urge others to do their homework. There’s more than one game in town and you don’t have to settle for mediocrity.

I've heard they do excellent work. I have a family member who goes there. But the wait is at least four months. They also refused to do my side at all given the difficulty. Which is a fair point. It may be hard, but it can be done (and has been). So I hesitate to recommend a place where they refuse work simply because they don't want to do it. Which is vastly different than can't be done. I respect that and have been refused for valid reasons (creasing, aging, etc.) in other spots. I have no problem with that! I expect to be told when it's a bad idea. And I appreciate it. But not refused due to inconvenience.
