Black Harbor Tattoo

We drove all the way from Redding, Ca to come see Eric. My brother is a long time client of Eric’s, and setup a memorial tattoo session for the 5 of us. After meeting these guys, it doesn’t surprise me how welcoming, inviting, and down to earth they are. The artwork that was drawn for each of us was EXACTLY what we wanted and envisioned when we sent the ideas his way. Some wanted minor adjustments or add ons to the pieces, and Eric did that with no problem. The vibe at this shop makes you feel right at home and made us feel like apart of their family. I can’t say enough amazing things about them and their artistic ability and knowledge. Thank you guys for making this a day we will never forget!!

I booked an appointment with Black Harbor thinking that due to their “professionalism” and 4.8 star rating, I would be satisfied with their work and behavior. So you can imagine my utter disappointment when that ended up being the opposite of what was marketed.

The artist I booked with, Pat, seemed inconvenienced by specific changes I had wanted done to the tattoo design (because there was no consultation after I made the booking, I figured details would be gone over during the appointment itself). This could've been prevented if things were communicated beforehand.

I was hesitant about choosing from what was provided to me. There was no explanation offered for the designs that I was not happy with. Upon me asking for something similar to my idea and not what he had stenciled, I received a “well I like it, but obviously take your time” and when I did take my time, he was clearly very annoyed about it. He was not receptive whatsoever and the entire process just felt draining overall. There has to be trust and comfort established beforehand (there was none of either), and he gave off very ambivalent, passive aggressive vibes.

Overall, an experience that was supposed to be special turned into a hesitant, anxious mess for me. Would not go back a second time nor would I recommend this place to anyone. Save yourself the time, money, and stress.

Every time that I go into this shop, I am always greeted as soon as I walk in the door. All of the artists, that I have seen, connect with their clients to make sure that they get exactly what they want. The artwork that all of them produce is top notch! Shane, my artist, I give a lot of free rein too. He took the time to get to know me and figure out what I like. When he adds to my pieces I am blown away with his work every time! Highly recommend this shop to everyone that I can!

These guys are awesome. Incredible artists. Eric put an awesome twist on a classic for me. Cant wait to go back for another session. Highly recommend Black Harbor. Won't be going anywhere else from now on.

Came to Pat with a couple ideas. He took the elements I provided and created exactly what I wanted. The line work is clean and precise.

Eric is an amazing artist. He has worked on a few tattoos and after every appointment we would set up another one for a few months out. My last appointment I showed up and waited an hour and no one came. I tried calling and texting with no response. I then found out days later from social media they were at a tattoo convention the same day as my appointment. I got no call or text prior to reschedule or apologize. On multiple occasions I tired reaching out to reschedule and it was unsuccessful. I then thanked him for his work and told him I was over how unprofessional their communication was. They came back and told me I needed to have a deposit down and consultation for my tattoo. Which I would understand if it was a NEW TATTOO. This is a tattoo he has already started did the line work and need to color and finish. My very first appointment I did put a deposit down and had a consultation but after that I never did and he we had about 5 other appointments. They are making it seem like it my fault when it wasn’t it’s not my fault he messed up the dates. I should have been called prior to my appointment instead I drove 30 mins to sit in a parking lot where no one showed up. It’s very disappointing.

Went in yesterday for a large hip tattoo, I’m a pretty awkward person but Eric was extremely sweet and made me feel comfortable, even when towards the end of the session, I used some not so nice words when the pain was getting bad. He paused multiple times to ask me if I’d like a break and offered to do it in two sessions, though I’m glad he was able to do it in one session.

As for the tattoo, it’s beautiful! Without a doubt the prettiest work I’ve ever seen done. I’m in love, especially with the leaves!
I showed him a photo of what I wanted online but asked him to recreate it in his style and I couldn’t be happier. I will definitely be getting more work done by him in the future as he is a genius with the needle. Definitely recommend checking him out.

Shane likes to yell at and belittle his employees with a room full of other tattooers and clients. Very distasteful and unprofessional.

The artist at Black Harbor Tattoo are really talented and friendly! They make it a fun and relaxing experience and I highly recommend this shop. I'm already figuring out my next tatoo. Eric, thanks for the awesome work!
