Oh man. So sad my experience was not great. Came in to get a tattoo for my birthday, came in early because someone had canceled on βLuckyβ... only to get there and have to wait for two hours while her worked on a few walk-inβs. Now, I was super excited and happy to wait, I mean whatβs two hours, Iβve been waiting for years.
Then when talking with Lucky he kept insisting I do the tattoos I had emailed him designs of and roughly the size I wanted, he kept pushing me to go bigger.
Eventually I agreed for one of the two we had planned... while I donβt hate it. I realize itβs not what I wanted. And Iβm writing this for the women who have a hard time being firm with what they want, Lucky may not be your guy. Iβm also writing this for the people who are potentially getting their first tattoo and want a warmer experience. Lucky is not your guy, he did not talk with me at all during our sessions. He also quoted me $100/hr. And after waiting two hours and having a quick 15min session he charged me $150. Again, I was alone, and Iβm really bad with confrontation. Iβd rather laser this off, which I am, than deal with the anxiety of telling someone I donβt like them. wish I had had one of my friends with me to help me be stern.
Regardless itβs done. Itβs not what I asked for, and I acknowledge I should have just walked out, but if you know what Iβm talking about and it resonates with your donβt go with Lucky.

Willis Van Pelt did my sunflower and it is absolutely gorgeous. I was visiting out of town from Humboldt County and would definitely want another art piece from them. This is my fourth tattoo and I had an overall comfortable experience. I will post another picture once the piece has fully healed π»

This place is amazing!! Great with COVID precautions and I felt totally welcome! My tattoo was done by Willis. I highly recommend Willis if you are looking for a person to do a tattoo for you! Willis was so understanding and nice when I changed the design last minute, and I cannot be more grateful! Great vibes all around! 10/10 would come again :)

I started out emailing them, and they were very helpful. On the day of my appointment, I knew I was at the right place walking in. Very funky and fun little studio, very open and very clean. Everyone I spoke with was very nice, and I loved my artist. This was my first tattoo, and I was very impressed with everything. Thanks everyone!

I emailed asking about the possiblilty of one of their artists doing a touch up on a tattoo my husband had recently gotten at a different tattoo shop. The artist responded by saying he would be happy to sit down and do a consultation to talk about the possibilities or re-working the existing tattoo. We scheduled a consultation appointment. We live an hour and a half away from Portland, so it takes a good chunk of our day just to drive into Portland and drive home. We barely sat down for the consultation when the artist said he absolutely won't do work on a tattoo he didn't originally do. This is totally fine and I respect his choices, but this could have easily been told to me over email instead of wasting all our time (over three hours of travel) and our gas money! I'm pretty upset I wasted a good chunk of my time and money needlessly for a 1 minute consultation to tell us he is unwilling to even discuss doing what I asked about over email.

I've gone to Icon twice now, soon to be three times.
The first time was as a tag-a-long to friends appointment. So I checked out the walk-ins and got a beautiful and well priced flower from Willis (not pictured).
The picture is a piece done by @steadybetty and she rocks!! She has a very chill down to earth vibe and her line-work is stellar. My next appointment is with her!
I love the shop, it's bright, clean and full of plants.

Unfortunately, after I arrived on time, my tattoo artist McKenna took over an hour to come down and meet me. Pretty disrespectful. When she did, the drawing was not based on the original reference photo I specifically requested, and sheβd said nothing about this change. I went ahead with the tattoo, but I honestly wish I hadnβt as it is far too dark all over and there was bleeding of ink that turned part of my skin blue. I was also charged over 150 more than the max of the range sheβd quoted.

Loved my experience at Icon getting my first tattoo! Betty is a great artist. I met a week before to show her what design I was thinking of. Upon arrival to my appointment we made a few sizing adjustments and got to work! I really like that she listened to what I wanted without judgement. The tattooing was really quick considering the artwork that was done. I enjoyed the scene and all the employees were very friendly. I highly recommend Icon!
I'm from out of town and came back for more shading, on the house. Again had another great experience.

I love it here. The atmosphere is fantastic and all of the employees are wonderful. I have gotten two tattoos from two different artists and they are both beautiful. You never feel uncomfortable at icon, everyone has a great bedside manner. You won't regret getting a tattoo here!

McKenna is awesome! (it's probably safe to assume all the artists here are wonderful, too.) She worked with me to create a tattoo that's even better than my initial idea. I've been here twice and have always been greeted by a friendly host. The space is clean, well-lit and nice to hang out in; there's Smith tea to sip while you wait and the walls are layered with lots of beautiful art.
