The 1 star is just for the tattoo I was left with, everyone was very nice & cool, the environment was friendly. The vibes were great. I had a good experience but unfortunately was left with a bad tattoo, luckily it’s only on my finger but it’s extremely crooked, i could’ve did a better job on myself and i have to get it covered because it pains me to look at. This shop had good reviews so I went with it but take it from me: don’t get finger tattoos, if you must, don’t get them here. I would drop a pic but i’m genuinely embarrassed to. :(((

Autumn is killing it over here. Gave here creative freedom with finishing my sleeve and a coverup, straight knocked it out of the park. Front desk is always easy to talk to and amazing at communicating. Can't wait for my next session.

Absolutely love my new tattoo!! ❤ I was a walk-in on Tuesday and they were able to take me. Only waited about 20 mins while my artist Rodney drew up what I wanted and help with the color and placement on my arm. Definitely recommend if you're looking to get your next ink!

I went to another place before here and was told my idea simply could not work on my forearm. I then asked for something considerably smaller and was told to make an appointment, not super unreasonable but I wanted the tattoo I wanted and I wanted it that day. So I found The Independence and called ahead and was told to come in. I described the concept of what I wanted and was told it'd be no problem, 20 minutes later they showed me the design. 40 minutes later I was getting what I wanted, where I wanted, how I wanted. The guy who did mine (I can't remember his name sadly but he had a beard and head tats) was professional, friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable. I paid 500 for a pretty big sized piece that included text which I felt was fair. I highly recommend this place and will be back to work on my sleeve.

What started as a impulsive decision to skip class and drive to the closest tattoo shop ended in my absolute favorite tattoo i have thanks to Rodney. I made another appointment with him recently and he managed to turn a trainreck of a tattoo done by another artist into something i can’t wait to show off in the summer. The people at the front desk are always kind. Highly recommend this shop!

Very professional place and artists. Was recommended to me by a bartender at blue moon tap house. Very happy with how my tattoo turned out. Would definitely go back and have Kris do more work on me.

My boyfriend and I came here on an impulsive whim and we felt immediately welcomed when we walked in. The woman at the front counter was so sweet and helpful and we were able to get on the waiting list immediately. We both had photos that we wanted to replicate and they allowed us to send them the pics and they printed out a stencil straight from the photos. Our tattoo artist, Juggs, was extremely kind and considerate, making sure we took deep breaths and were comfortable on the table and throughout the tattoo. We are extremely satisfied with our tattoos and we are for sure coming back if we get the itch for another one!

Extremely sweet staff all around. I’ve been in three times, all walk ins that I just so happened to get Autumn for. She’s great, gave me exactly what I wanted. I also got a piercing, and she was very helpful with making sure I felt comfortable.

This review is long overdue! Last spring my best friend came to visit from out of town specifically so that we could get tattoos together. I had used Ocean Mystique before and been pretty satisfied (Joe is awesome) so I tried to schedule us an appointment several weeks in advance. I was told that they were not scheduling appointments for that day and to just come in and said that they would be able to take us. Well the day rolled around and we were very snarkily told not only that they couldn't take us, but that they couldn't do my friend's ear tattoo because it "wouldn't look right." I was also quoted a ton of money for a moderately-sized tattoo for my shoulder. Scrambling, we reached out to Independence Tattoo and they said they could take us that afternoon. 3 hours later we were in the hot seat with Rodney ("HotRod") who not only did my friend's ear tattoo but blew it out of the water! It looks incredible. He also completed my shoulder tattoo at $100 less than Ocean Mystique quoted me. Several hours later we went home completely satisfied. Thank you Independence for saving the day! Even though I'm no longer local I would totally make a special trip back for more work. Highly recommend.
