Michael did my first tattoo, it was an awesome experience and I felt so comfortable and less anxious about it once I spoke to him and we started. I'm absolutely in love with it. I will definitely go there for future tattoos. Also, very clean, and friendly (Ashley as well)

Addendum: my artist has since opened his own shop. The other artists here are still good quality, but my review stems solely on my preferred artist.

I got my first and second tattoos at the same time here. Richie was my artist and I couldn't have been happier. I came in a worried that one of my pieces wouldn't generated odd looks, but not only did he recognize the piece from something we had similar interests in, he was almost as excited to do the piece as I was to receive it. He took extra care in both, giving me a few sizes for each so we could get an idea as to how big I'd like it, as well as where I wanted both. He took great measures to make sure I was as comfortable as I could be throughout to long and arduous process. He was a real person, and we generated genuine conversation and it felt like just one long visit. Highly enjoyable and I will definitely be coming back. Please, only come in if you appreciate the art and meaning of the experience. It'll make it that much better.

I walked in out of the blue while traveling through Tucson. Worked with Mike and I can’t say enough good things about him. I told him I wanted my father’s handwriting tattooed on me and without any hesitation he said “comeback later and I will stay to get you done.” My father passed away in February and this handwriting was from a letter he sent while I was in the military. Mike sat there and talked to me about my dad, life, listened to music and made it the best experience I possibly could’ve had. I usually toss in my headphones for tattoos, but he was there to talk, listen, and had some of the best stories to tell. Let’s not forget to mention the price was great and the tattoo was even better. I would’ve paid double for this work let’s just put it there. Mike, if you see this, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You don’t know how much it means to see this work on me. It looks like my dad wrote it directly on my leg.

Went to their new location. Ashley did my two arm tattoos. She was able to fit my sister and me in last minute. She did an absolutely amazing job. She’s very patient and understanding.

came here in march to take advantage of their friday the 13th deal (which is amazing btw). Didn't call ahead and got there around 2:30. waited a bit over an hour (they had a decent amount of traffic) before it was my turn. Ashley was super nice, showed me how the equipment is new and sealed for sterility, and talked me through the whole thing (it was my first tattoo). I wasn't sure exactly where i wanted it, other than somewhere on my ankle, and she helped choose the perfect place to minimize pain and be hidable if I needed to. She also started with the smallest element of my tattoo so I could get used to the feeling. Overall a great experience, and I will probably be going back next friday the 13th (but calling ahead this time!)

Another amazing experience here at Modern Art. My niece and I popped in semi-impulsively to get matching rose tattoos. We had an idea of what we wanted, time was short given my niece was returning to San Diego the next day. The matching tattoos were intensely personal, and we wanted to have them done at the same studio. Ashley and Richie delivered. Ashley created mine, Richie created my nieces off the same sketch/visual. They are beautiful one of a kind pieces with subtle differences, but the same. Ashley was truly amazing bringing to life something that perfectly captured our vision. Richie, poured in that same artistic creativity into my nieces. Talented and service driven artists create here, you can not go wrong having them turn your vision into something amazing. It is worth calling out, that I was adamant that I did not want a stem on my rose... yet the placing of the piece with my veins gives it a subtle stem naturally... destiny.

Kyle at Modern Art Tattoo did an outstanding job. Five stars. He took my ideas, embraced them and gave me a beautiful, in my opinion, piece of art. This is my first tattoo and he walked me through the process. The staff is caring and truly interested in the client's ideas, and they bring their own artist flare--the results art I'm proud to display.
