Teach is awesome. He did 4 individual pieces for me and they all turned out great. It had been several years since my last tattoo and I discovered that my pain level increased dramatically. Teach was so patient with me having to only do a little bit at a time and using the numbing gel. He took great care to make sure I was as comfortable as possible. His prices are very reasonable. He's definitely got a knack for the traditional style tattoos. I always felt like I could talk to him about exactly what I wanted and he listened. I would definitely recommend him to anyone.

I got my Tattoo from Ryan Groebler about a year and a half ago and it is still beautiful. It's still very bold and sharp. The experience was my first tattoo and he worked with me to get exactly what I wanted. It should be mentioned that they can be pretty busy so you may need to schedule an appointment.

Got my $50 deposit stolen from me. I guess when they finish a tattoo if they want to tip themselves, they just keep it. I tipped well on every tattoo that I got. Teach is an amazing artist. I'd like to get more, but scheduling is impossible. Tipping point was when i was asked to put another $50 down because my original deposit was taken. Great artists, horrible business.

I've been tattooed on a lot of places by a lot of different tattooers. This is not only the best shop in Boise but it's one of the best anywhere. All the artists are talented and friendly. They love to help people get just what they want done. I could not recommend Chalice any more highly.

I went in to have a BOISE STATE tattoo that I had gotten a year before elsewhere. After having only one tattoo done before in Anaheim, Ca. at Tatooland by a very famous man named Jack Rudy. He had done tats on my dad 40 years earlier and on. No regrets there! I just couldn't afford to go back to him. My barber and I were discussing local tattoers in regards to talent and being light handed. Mark mentioned a big guy at Chalice. Mark showed me many of his tats done by him. I was sold at that point. I don't remember the guy's name so I went there and found him. I'm 6' and 200lbs and he was about 2 inches taller and probably weighed about 225. The biggest guy there though and had lots of facial hair as Mark had also described so I made my appointment. He basically redid the entire tat, using a bit darker blue and orange. The old one was very splotchy and I had a mild scar that seemed to really mess with the blue which I assumed made it so splotchy. I think his name was Derrick. Not sure, but he had his work cut out for him! He felt light handed and tatover was done. It looked great, but it did the first time also. A week later the peeling was finished and I experienced no scabbing. 4 months later and it looks AWESOME! My wife also had a tat done by another artist that turned out great as well. Nice place and atmosphere! And 2 good artists. My wife had a tat on her back there 3 years earlier. It looked pretty good, but the artist no longer there was so heavy handed that it took 3 weeks to stop peeling and 2 more weeks for the scabs to heal. I hadn't planned to go there again. Very pleased and I certainly recommend them now!

Derek is a quiet genius with the tattoo needle. My husband and I both recently got tattoos from Derek Schaeffer at Chalice. His designs are beautiful and thoughtful. He is a complete stranger to laziness, and puts in the extra effort to make his tattoos stunning. He goes beyond the ask, making wonderful suggestions, and he takes such care and time with detail. As I mentioned, he is very quiet, and I enjoyed this about my sessions. I liked not feeling the need to small talk, but understanding that extra effort was going into the work. I have a beautiful piece artwork that will stay with me for the rest of my life. I love my husband's too. Thanks Derek.

I booked a mom daughter session about 2 months in advance, sent emails of what we wanted done. When it came closer I was rescheduled with a different artist and time. I called to ask if I could get a rough estimate of what the pieces would cost or what the shop minimum would be, I was told no we do not give out prices you need to talk to artist. When I asked if I could leave a message for the artist I was again told no. When the day came to get tattoos we were 15 min early to our 430 pm appointment we filled out paperwork. The artist was not there. The artist did not show up. The reception girl did refund our deposit after we waited a total of 45 min. Also the artist was flying in from CA so no quarantine time being taken. Offered to book us the next day with their walk in person or on Sunday with who ever they could talk into taking us on. Overall felt like we were unwanted customers. Couldn’t get straight answers from them about anything and felt sketch from the first call on. I’m not some little ol mom with this being my first tattoo, this was supposed to be a birthday present on my daughters birthday to get matching tats. Sadly we will have to book again but missed her birthday. I guess the shop that treats us as valued customers will be getting our money and substantial tip.
