Got my first tattoo here, on my chest. I had to wait 30 minutes passed my schedule time, but that wasn't a huge deal. They were professional, kind, and helpful. Cleaned it after and had good tips to keep it clean/healthy.

I love James River tattoo the prices are great I got a beautiful tattoo a cover-up of a 25 year old tattoo. Tattoos are of, 1 what was being covered up,2.The pink bathing suit top is the day of finishing my tattoo. 4.The 1/2 way point where we stopped, most may want to stop before this..3. What it looks like today Oct, 14 2019, 3 mths later.. thank you James I love you I'm coming back to have more added to it. ASAP..

Got a tattoo from Ethan, I believe that was his name, it wasn’t the older guy who I think is the owner. It was mainly my fault I should have looked at the drawing before I rushed to say let’s do it. After the fact when I really got to looking at it the line work was ok but the lettering was crooked and the dark shading was so close to the lines it just blobbed together. I ended up having another artist try to fix what he could. I only went here because of high reviews and other people’s tattoos from there, my main guy was also not tattooing at the time. I later learned they were tattood by the owner. Lesson learned. Know your artist and don’t rush to say let’s do it. I also didn’t like that they told me it was cash only after it was done. It was also 400$ and it literally took 1 1/2 start to finish with prolly 30 minutes to draw it. That’s Virginia Beach professional artist pricing. I’d say only have the owner tattoo you.

I was happy with the design of the tattoo and it was drawn well but applying it is a different story. It has crooked lines that I didn't notice at the time. Part of that is on me for not being observant enough to point it out (kinda on my skin at that point so idk really what could have been done). I also developed a surface infection. This is my 5th tattoo and I'm fully aware of proper aftercare. My skin split open that will more than likely scare. The tattoo was supposed to be a tribute to a loved one that passed away. I'm really bummed and sad my tattoo tribute turned out this way. I should have trusted my gut instinct NOT to get a tattoo in Lynchburg. 😞
