Virginia Class Tattoo(moved to Old Town) Visionaries

I submitted a request for a consultation with Scuba Steve through the VCT website, and was called to come in about a week later. I explained to Steve in clear detail what I wanted, paid my $100 deposit, and scheduled an appointment for about a month later. I was told that I would meet with Steve a week before the appointment to go over the design and make final adjustments. I was never contacted for that meeting, and when I called VCT to inquire, they told me that Steve said that it was fine, and to just come in on the actual appointment date.

On the day of the appointment, Steve arrived about half an hour after my scheduled arrival time, and then provided a design that was missing half of what I requested, and the major focal point of the tattoo. When I confronted him about it, he said that that element wouldn't work and that he couldn't do it. I asked if he could do a quick sketch to add it in, and he said I would have to reschedule since he had an appointment after mine. As the secondary part of the tattoo had personal meaning to me, I chose to move forward with it, and we agreed that I would come in in a week or so to finish the tattoo.

The work took about 3 hours, including a 20-minute break and about 20-30 minutes of chatting. He also indicated that the appointment after mine (and the reason that he couldn't adjust his design to accommodate what I had asked for to begin with) didn't actually exist.

When I went to pay, I was told that the deposit I paid a month earlier would not be applied to that day's tattoo, and that I could instead use it for the second half when I came in. Steve told me that he would contact me in about a week to schedule it that appointment.

Well, that was in September. I've messaged him several times on Instagram but received no response. At this point I have given up on working with him again. VCT still has my $100 deposit.

Scuba Steve is EXTREMELY talented, don't get me wrong, but I get the feeling that he's very arbitrary about the amount of effort and professionalism he invests in his clients.

Virginia Class Tattoo, more like Virginia First Class Tattoo - I just had my first tattoo today by Scuba and it's freaking dope ! The environment in this place is pretty chill, they're not like the ones that thinks just about the business they DO care about the art. Everyone is friendly too. Highly recommended !

Love, love, love my tattoo from Alberto (@tokatattoos)! He is very talented, professional and the shop is clean. The butterfly is a cover up and is exactly what I wanted. He also fixed another tattoo and did lettering from my dad on my arm. In all three cases, he did a fantastic job and I'm so happy with all the tattoos. We are already planning on covering up another tattoo soon!

Clinton took care of me. Was very professional, has great vibes and is very talented! I Will definitely be back for more pieces bye him in the future. Also the receptionist was very professional and conservative with responding to e-mails. All around great shop and I highly recommend.

I wanted to get an appointment from “Scuba Steve” and although I sent a deposit, I was never given a date though I messaged him repeatedly on Instagram for weeks. I called the shop to try and schedule too and he texted me, but with minimal contact and still no date, I ended up asking for my deposit back. Also a random person messaged me on Instagram asking if I had a bad experience, too. She said he was rude and arrogant. Good art shouldn’t excuse a complete lack of professionalism. I’m actually glad I didn’t get tattooed by this jerk...

Chelsea Darling is the bomb - super pleased with my tattoo from her. I've been tattooed by a few people over the last number of years but Chelsea is now officially my tattoo artist - I recommend her and Virginia Class Tattoo very highly!

Friendly and talented artists, make the entire experience pleasant whether its for 1st or 50th tattoo. I had Clinton and he did an excellent job on several pieces on my arms. Highly reccomend coming here to anyone in the northern va area.

I went today and got my first tattoo on my ankle. I was super nervous but they were so great and calm with me. I totally recommend Ramiro. Overall, the experience was amazing and I would definitely go back.

Clinton was absolutely fantastic, he gave me honest opinions and let me try a few tattoo positions before we got started. He also works fast and accurately and is really easy to work with! 10/10 will be coming back!

So i just got my first tattoo here from Colton and i gotta say.....i could NOT be more pleased with the outcome. The shop has a great feeling to it, very comfortable and good people. I HIGHLY recommend this shop for anyone looking to get your first tattoo or your twentieth. Colton made my day with my Star Wars tribute.
