Side Quest Tattoo

Alivia did a great job! I decided to cover up my old tattoo that was not done very well and this was my first time getting a tattoo at a legitimate establishment so I didn't know what to expect. There was less communication with the tattoo artist than I anticipated (just a few emails altogether) so I was worried at first that any concerns I had about the design would cut into my appointment time. However, the alterations I ended up requesting on the design were done really quickly and turned out lovely. I also think giving multiple reference images really helped get my ideas across, so I recommend being as clear as you can with your artist.

Overall, I felt that the atmosphere in Artful Dodger Tattoo was both professional and relaxed. Alivia was really friendly and informative and completed applying my entire tattoo in only about an hour. The price was less than I expected as well. I will definitely seek her out for any future tattoos I decide to get! Thanks again Alivia!

I just wandered past and thought I would check the place out. Its pretty rad, they are super friendly as I mosied around the shop lurking with intent in the comic area. The artist where going over their designs in-depth with the clients going over the concepts and hashing out the details. The comic selection is very tight, I was rather impressed all things considered that is.

Jon did another amazing tattoo for me! Been coming to see him for about for years now. This shop is always clean, organized, and full of amazing staff. Definitely my favorite tattoo shop in Seattle!

Excellent tattoo shop, I got a space dog done by Ed and it isn't even finished yet and I'm already in love with it. You can check out a lot of their work on the shops Instagram and each of the individual artists Instagram.

$$$$. The artists there are great. They do fantastic work. But make sure you clarify hourly rates with your artist. They don't have a studio rate. I received a great tattoo from an artist within the shop in 2019 at $100/hr, which is why I went back for a "want to do" piece that I liked with a different artist. It took just about 2 1/2 hours and I was charged $200/hr. I was taken aback about the price but admittedly it was my fault for not verifying price beforehand.

Found one of their artists post a flash and was able to quickly send my deposit and schedule over Instagram.

While tattooing the design the artist asked if they could change one of the colors to a slightly different tone but this ended up very closely matching the border of the surrounding tattoo. I assume this needed to be done as I had more tan skin that wouldn’t have been suitable with the original, brighter color but am totally bummed it’s difficult to see/differentiate the tattoo itself now since the inner portion and border so closely resemble and are so much darker than the original they had designed.

I probably wouldn’t recommend this artist for PoC unless just doing grayscale, they also didn’t follow their flash design at all (I.e. there was supposed to be gradient in the border and additional shading and colors in other areas, but they decided to forego that all).

Just take a look at the artist portfolios from this shop and see whether they have any examples of their designs on tan-dark skin or are willing to do a color test (some Seattle area artists are happy to) before making your decision to come in for the full tattoo (unlike me).

such a friendly staff, clean place, and pretty affordable pricing. walked in with my mom and we were both taken care of very quickly. ed drew up mine in no time, taking all of my opinions into consideration. he was wonderful and the tattoo came out even better than i could've pictured. my mom had dan and said her experience was just as awesome. i highly recommend this shop!

Tattoo artist drew my design 4 days before the appointment and for some reason couldn’t get my adjustments made before the appointment (made appointment 3 months in advance). I never got an apology or an acknowledgment of me driving 6 hours to the tattoo shop, nor the money I spent on the hotel room, instead I got offered to come to my appointment and reschedule if I didn’t like the new drawing. Would recommend only booking if you live in the area.
