Went in last week to try and get my first tattoo. I was only in town for a couple of days and was hoping for something that probably required more time to get set up, but Josh was awesome and willing to take me the next day. He designed an amazing piece of work and made small adjustments to make it perfect for me. The actual experience of getting the tattoo was smooth, Josh was awesome to converse with, and I left the place proud to bare such awesome art. Thanks, Josh! Can't recommend these guys enough. Awesome art and rad guys!

Great experience. Had Jason, the owner, as my artist. He did great work, took time to place my tattoo and had the stencil ready prior to the session with some pics he requested of my arm prior to the session. I will be headed back in a few months for the next piece. I'm extremely happy with the outcome of my tattoo.

Jason who is the owner is hands down one of the best tattoo artists Iβve ever met. He knows what will look good and fit right as well as how to blend styles. He is professional, kind and funny, perfect combo when you are in his chair for hours. I have gone to him for many years and I will for many more. I couldnβt recommend him enough!!

I was a little on the fence about getting a tattoo while I was in Portland, and I'm so glad I settled on this shop. They accepted me as a walk-in mid-afternoon on a Friday, and I was tattooed by a woman named Mira. I had an awesome experience with her, since she was enthusiastic and helpful with what I wanted tattooed. She was also very chill and a great conversationalist, which was helpful to distract me from the actual act of being tattooed. Seriously, they're fair-priced, cleanly, comfortable, and welcoming at this shop. I'd definitely visit again without hesitation.

After looking around at several different tattoo shops in Portland, I ended up seeing the βwalk ins welcomeβ sign for Freaks & Geeks and thought I would stop in and check out their books. Iβm so glad I did! After looking through the books, I decided to go with Devon as my artist. We did a consultation with a few inspiration photos and booked an appointment. Lots of shops in Portland close their books for months at a time, but she got me in within a week. On the day of, Devon was so great. Iβve had several tattoos but you always forget how itβs going to feel haha. She was an expert at knowing when I needed a break or when to switch it up. The custom piece is absolutely gorgeous, and Iβm so glad I saw their sign!

I got a simple tattoo, with a days notice Jason was able to whip it up. It was my first tattoo and it was on my chest. He did a great job but I wouldnβt recommend going with him for your first tat because as my friend put it βheβs heavy handedβ The chest was also a very painful spot.
The shop is very nice and clean and his clip art is nice and the quality of work heβs done on other people is very top notch.

If you're looking for a great tattoo that not only looks great but heals fast and painlessly then you have got to meet Jason. My first tattoo experience with Jason was about 6 years ago and I immediately felt at home and understood by my wacky personalized designs that I requested. No judgment, no hassle- in fact nothing but assistance and professionalism to make the awesome design in your head a reality on your body! But honestly the most important part of a tattoo for me is the healing. Within a week you are all cured up and ready to show it off! Little to no scabbing and his care and understanding of painful spots sometimes makes all the difference in a long sitting. My whole arm and half the other are all done by Jason. Simply put- he is the only artist I trust with my designs and my skin. Oh and another personal plus is that the man and the shop have really genuinely good taste in music. You're not going to be dying with hours of speed metal and music that makes you wish you hadn't decided to spend so much time there. It's an all around rad experience.

I'm new to the tattoo world and came in not really knowing how it works. I wanted a watercolor tattoo and asked specifically if any of the artists have done any. Jason said "it depends on what you mean by watercolor." He then spent a few minutes talking about his preferred aesthetic. It felt like he was attempting to convince me not to get a watercolor tattoo. I came back with some pictures and Jason patiently listened while I explained what I wanted- a watercolor tattoo with pencil sketch-like lines. He said "I can do anything you want."
I asked if he had any examples of anything similar to what I wanted.. he pointed to a drawing on the wall. It had elements in it that I had specifically said I didn't want.
The whole experience was a good lesson for me: (a) Make sure the artist you pick has experience doing the style you want. (b) make sure you and the artist are communicating well (c) ask a lot of questions (d) walk away if you have any doubts.
Edit for response: He was not being honest about his abilities. He said he could 'do anything I wanted', which was clearly not the case. Plus it was clear he had not actually listened to my explanation of what I wanted because he showed me an example that did not look anything like I explained.
Don't trust an artist, contractor or a mechanic that immediately tells you they can do anything you want... They have no idea what you want! It could be impossible!
Trying to convince me not to get a watercolor tattoo is just rude.

Extremely friendly and clean. Walked right in and Mira drew up my tattoo.
I started feeling dizzy as she started and I was embarrassed but she was very professional and kind. I felt safe and welcomed. Mira's design was perfect and it looks awesome on my arm.
I would highly recommend Freaks and Geeks to anyone wanting some ink in Portland.
