If you have a chance to or know you want a tattoo I would suggest going to Broken Lantern.
I am so glad that I chose Broken Lantern for my first tattoo! I came in about a week or two prior and we just talked about the design I wanted (which at the time was too small to last). They were very honest about what is a good tattoo idea with tips on size placement and design that really made my tattoo fill out.
I am in love with the work that Kat did and really grateful for her patience and experience. While getting tattooed she talked me through the needles and ink and what she was going to do, and even though I thought I wasn't nervous it made getting the tattoo a lot easier. It was also less than I expected which was a nice surprise.
I would 100% suggest going even for just a consultation if you want a really personalized and quality experience

Visiting Charleston for the weekend with sister & her friend & got fantastic tattoos within minutes of walking in; not to mention they had a few appointments ahead of us! They got us in & out! Chris, Clipper Chris Jones & Constance are Awesome.
We totally enjoyed our visit.

Really cool tattoo shop! The environment is cozy and welcoming, yet super badass. My best friend and I just got tattooed by Chris Jones and we had the best time. Chris was so awesome and provided a welcoming and amazing experience. I'm bummed our tattoos only took 15 min each! I wish I had more time to chat with Chris. Thanks again for an amazing experience. Will be back!

My first tattoo ever and I had a awesome experience! Shane was my tattoo artist and he did an amazing job. I can’t thank him enough. All the staff was very helpful walking me through the process and at the end I love the workmanship of my tattoo. Highly recommended to all who read this! This is a pic half way through.

I was super impressed. Cameron at the front desk is welcoming and friendly. Russell did my tattoo and was great. We talked the whole time, and he took his time to do great work. It's a fun, upbeat environment with awesome people. I'll be back for sure.

Great tattoo shop! My sister and I both wanted to get tattooed and really enjoyed our experience at Broken Lantern. Cameron was so helpful with setting up our appointment and making sure our tattoos were what we wanted. I was tattooed by Russell and he was very professional and my tattoo barely hurt at all. My sister was tattooed by Ward who did an awesome job on her snake tattoo. They were very aware of Covid precautions but didn't let that stop them from being friendly and personable. Highly recommend getting your tattoo done here if you're in the Charleston area.

My husband and I were visiting Charleston and wanted to get tattooed while we were there. After visiting 4 other shops (and Broken Lantern was our last stop) we were hooked. From the front desk service to the tattoo artist, we walked out very happy with everything! We are from Georgia and will driving back to Charleston to let Broken Lantern do all of our future work! I do suggest calling and making an appointment (you can send your ideas to them via email and they will have everything ready to go when you arrive) as they stay very busy (and for a good reason!)
