Was struggling for awhile to find a great shop in Portland after being used to the shops in my hometown back in MD and I found it!
Killer artists, great atmosphere, friendly people, what more could you ask for???

I get my ink here! The owners, Jerry & Joann Martian are amazing people (& great artists) & have very talented artists who work with them. You will defininately get top notch work at Martian Arts!
And, the Hawthorne neighborhood is interesting, lots of shops & cool people. Enjoy the area afteryour tat.

Great place. We worked with Gerry, and was so accommodating getting us booked last minute, even though we were just getting something small. Everything was so clean, I think he spent more time cleaning the station between us than it took to get us tattooed. The shop was cool is this very Portland way.

I came in here for my first tattoo with almost no idea what I wanted, and Paul talked with me for about five minutes and drew up the perfect thing! He was super patient and nice while tattooing, which was great because I was pretty nervous. Near the end of the process some of the other artists came over and said how good the tattoo looked :)
The space as a whole was super inviting and open, and very unintimidating. Would definitely recommend this spot for those nervous about getting a first tattoo! Also a great spot in general with professional and friendly artists who care about their work as well as their customers.

I have 3 tattoos by Jerry and 1 by Joanne. They are both insanely talented and so sweet and welcoming. If I'm going to have someone digging a needle into my skin for a few hours, and requirement for me is that they and clean, professional, skilled and kind. They completely fit the bill. Joanne did a tattoo on my thigh and I fell asleep! If I lived closer I would totally have much more than I do. I can't recommend them enough.

This is a shout out to the amazing Joanne. I wanted to get a tattoo to commemorate my 15 year cancerversary so I was looking for someone to do it. Thankfully my nail girl recommended Joanne.

I emailed her a couple of pictures, one of the tattoo I wanted and one of my cancer ribbon. I told her to put her spin on it and she went above my expectations. I absolutely LOVE it and loved her. She's super cool and really takes to heart what you ask for but she helps make it come to life. You can see her passion and pride for what she does.

The shop is really cool and the other artists where really nice and welcoming. If you're looking for a tattoo artist you have to check out Joanne, you won't be sorry you did!

I had the pleasure of getting some work done by Adam earlier this month, and just had a minor touch up. The shop is clean and welcoming. All the artists are friendly and professional. Pricing is about what you’d expect. Very happy with my experience here and will be coming back

I can not recommend Gabe more. I am visiting PDX for my birthday. I came to Martian Arts on a recommendation and connected with Gabe. I went in Monday to explain to him what I wanted, his excitement matched mine every step of the way. I scheduled an appointment for Friday. I showed up and he was ready and prepared to show me what he had worked up. He really worked with me on every single detail from design, to size, to placement. During my tattoo he checked on me regularly to make sure I was doing okay (high pain on chest tattoos). He made me feel very comfortable and important. He even used some topical numbing agent to help when we got to the shading (and it really did help!). I would give more than 5 stars if I could. A truly gifted artist. You will not be disappointed.

Paul did my tattoo! Perfection, good quality' good value, professional, clean and on time. Paul is a perfectionist! His eye for the design you want is spot on and his shading is excellent. Happened to just walk in to this shop and was blessed to get the best. Thanks Paul.

Speedy and professional. The owner was so fun to talk to and so knowledgeable. I really enjoyed his colorful, cute art style and I'm very pleased with the beautiful tattoo he created for me. It's healed now and the colors came out just right. Sharp and vibrant. Just plain gorgeous.

I do recommend buying some tattoo goo and gentle unscented handsoap and lotion for aftercare BEFORE you have your work done.

If I ever want another tattoo I'll definitely go back! Highly recommended!
